Annealing help.

I have a blade made from Chad Nichols XHP core damascus that I just heat treated. Problem is I forgot to tap the hole for the thumb disc before I did. So, I need to anneal this bad boy but I've never annealed a blade before and I'm double not sure how to go about it with the damascus variable.

So if any of you have some advice for getting me out of this little hole I've managed to dig for myself, I sure would appreciate it.

Without disrupting too much a Subcritical anneal is what I would try - 1200F for two hours.

Wrap in foil, heat to 1350f for 8 hours.

1200f isn't enough.
