anneling questions...

getting bored and decided to make file knives....i am wondering if you need to aneel the file first then shape or do i need to rough shape, aneel and the finsih shaping and the can i just aneel in my home stove or can i send them out to be aneeled and if so where can i send them?.. i know the has most likely been talked about so sorry in advance...

you can do the annealing in your bbq on your back porch

build the fire you can use sticks twigs or small pieces of firewood.
place the files in the fire. let the fire burn till it goes out
leave the files in there over night, or until they cool
the files should be annealed or normalized by this process of heating in the fire.
hope this helps
you can grind or shape the files easily now since the metal is softer.
you must heat treat and then temper them after shaping
