Can a 6 year old enter, I have a JK for him when he gets old enough so he's kind of a customer?![]()
This is the SDCM, or Scott D. Cunningham Memorial.
Handle: 4.5" Black Micarta, with 1/4" hollow pins
Blade: 7.0"
Height: 1.5"
Thickness: 1/4"
The thumb ramp will have jimping, but I couldn't get it drawn even enough to my liking; and I had no idea where the best places were to put the holes for the handle and lanyard, so that is left up to the expert![]()
The upper edge of the blade will be swedged in an arc, but the upper will not come to an edge; it will still be dull and flat when looking at it from the top, and the bottom arc will overlap a third of the grind from the tip. I am unsure of the proper terminology to describe what I'm talking of, so I will draw a top view and tip view to show what I mean and post it later.

I am withdrawing from the contest because my design pales to that of Peter's 6 year old. I am using the rest on my graph paper as fire starter this weekend!

This reminds me of a Camillus Stubby Hunter a little.
The JK WoodKarver
The handle is a trace of my EDC Kephart, minus the built in guard.
I believe the handle will give great leverage while maintaining great control and the short scandi-ground blade will be fantastic for fine detail work as well as being capable of removing larger quantities of wood.
The sides of the handle, near the blade, would be thinner with a slightly scalloped thumb area for better control of the blade.
I'm working on mine.
First one I drew up, I thought that looks familiar. Ohhh, that looks like outdoorsfan's Treeline
