Had a good chat with Pala this AM. Yangdu reminded him that we started Himalayan Imports 15 years ago in August. Yangdu & I drove up to Los Angeles and spent a day with the staff of Knives Illustrated magazine to kick around the possibilites. Bud Lang took some pix of our logo khukuri and we ran our first ad a couple of months later. Ad cost $135 as I recall and sold a couple of village models. That was what started it.

So all three of us thought it would be a good idea to run a sale for the duration of the month of August to show our appreciation for the great support we've enjoyed for the past 15 years.

Take a look at the shopping site. If there's anything that looks good to you at 20% off buy it at regular price and we'll send a rebate check amounting to 20% of the regular price with the order. I've decided that's easier than changing all the prices on the shopping site and then changing them back again in three weeks.

Figures that instead of getting gifts, you'd be giving them.

How is your health? How is Bura's?

I hope you can take time to savor the effect you have had in life. The ripples you have made in the world's pond may go on forever.

Find, or create, joy...as life allows you.

Thanks, Kis.

My health is okay as far as I can tell.

Bura is showing up at the shop everyday. (I think mostly to get away from wife!) His voice is stronger but still speaks with a slur. He wants to pound hot steel but can't. He may try to use two helpers to do all the heavy work and see if he can produce a few khukuris. He's a tough old bird. He's taking his meds faithfully. They are fairly expensive by Nepal standards, about equal to a good kamis pay. We buy them and give them to Bura. Pala is afraid if he gives the money direct Bura's wife will spend it for things other than Bura's meds.

15 years, thats a succesful business by today's standards. Goes to show you that if you treat customers like family they will eventually treat you the same. there is a trust on this forum that I sometimes battle to conmrehend. We are the ones that should be giving you an extra 25% to pay for all the favours you've done for us !!

Wish Pala and yangdu a happy anniversary and I'll be here when it's HI's 30 anniversary

regards and blessings
Brendan

Happy anniversary! A heart felt "Many Returns" also!

I am glad to hear that you are well and that Bura continues to improve.

Hmmm, 20%, have to look around the site.

Uncle Bill,

15 years! I hope you have a least that many more. Your generousity never ends! I'd feel guilty taking you up on your offer.
I wish you, Yangdu, Pala and everyone many more years of success!

Mike

Congrats! BUT They way HI does business, fifteen years is hardly a suprise! My gratitude to Pala, Uncle Bill, Yangdu, Vikash, and the best bunch of Kamis who ever pounded steel. I was astonished when I looked at my first HI Khuk and I still am!

I'm glad to hear that Bura is gaining, you, Pala, and Yangdu are in good shape.

I feel like some of the other guys. I would feel better going in the hole another 20%. After all it is HI's anniversary. I hope we can all stick around for another 15. God Bless.:)

:D Happy Anniversary HI:D
Heart felt thanks to all of your love, commitment and hard work Uncle Bill, Yangdu, Bura, Pala, Rusty, Sanu to name but a few...and all of the Cantina Family.
Having lived in India for many years I can truly appreciate (perhaps more than most) what an incredible feat HI has accomplished and the hard work and love that goes into making it work...
Love and blessings to all and may the next fifteen years be just as rewarding...
Thanks for being there...everyone!:D

Happy anniversary, and best wishes for many prosperous years to come.
I just walked a young man through the ordering process this morning. After much head scratching and questions on the merits of the different khukri styles he decided an 18" WWII is just what we needs.
We shall see when the old HIKV bug bites him;)
