Announcement from BUCK

Nice. Sounds like a beautiful knife. Does nickel silver tarnish?
yep it does. over time it looks as bad as brass. changes colors just like brass, just not the exact same colors as brass. I have lots of Buck 110s in both metals and they are about equal in tarnishing.

nickel silver can also create verdigris, the green corrosion stuff, like brass does. I haven't seen it as rampant as brass though. so nickel silver seems to have a slight advantage in that regard.

I got this in email form- very tempting… I like the combo and the fact they used rivets instead of just glue like some of their special offerings.

IMO, 90% of what makes the Bucks 420HC perform the way it does is the geometry.

They did a lot of R&D/CQI into the Edge 2000 back in the 80's or 90's or whenever they changed the grind that contributed greatly to the success they have had to this day, and it wouldn't make sense for Buck to disagree with the people making wild claims about the heat treatment being other-worldly. I don't think anyone disputes the fact that they optimize the heat treatment as well as anyone, and it's a well deserved reputation, but it's not as magical or mystical as a lot of people make out.

To be fair 420HC is better than Magnacut in some respects, but you can say that for any comparison of steels. There will always be pro's and con's for any steel choice.
