Announcement from BUCK

I don't "need" another Buck 110 -- the one I bought over 40 years ago is still working just fine -- but looked anyway because I was curious.

Fortunately, it's already sold out at $174.99@. ;)

See: Magnacut Buck 110

If you can get a Buck 110 in 420HC for $70, and the Magnacut version is $175, then it is fair to say Magnacut is not “worth” the extra $100, but to argue that 420HC is better than Magnacut seems silly.

Magnacut is developing a solid reputation, and Larrin’s incredible knowledge and expertise that went into the formulation and heat treat is undeniable.

I would have liked to get both a 110 and 112 in Magnacut but all my spare change is being soaked up by GEC right now………

Magnacut is a nice enough steel. But waaaay overhyped. Not the be all and end all it is made out to be in my experience.

Hopefully the current fad of putting it in everything will be over soon

I personally wouldn’t mind Magnacut steel displace S30v and I REALLY like S30v blade steel. Buck’s 420HC steel is a great steel for the money! I have it on a Buck 501 and while the edge does not last as long the S30v blade on my Buck 501 from the Custom Shop it also sharpens extremely easy and quickly. For the money it is hard to beat.

I’d wager Buck’s s30 will hold an edge longer than the magnacut

Reminds me of ATS 34 in the 90s being used for everything.
