Announcing the NEW 15060-1801 Exclusive!!

I think it will do just fine if the price is reasonable. CPM S30V is a good steel even if people feel the need for the latest wonder steel.

MAP should put it at 182.75.

It may do well overall but Benchmade has taken some criticism on Bladeforums for producing specials like this that are only a different scale option. Also, I never said S30v isn't a good steel.

It tends to be a dual criticism. No blade steel "upgrade" and only the scales being different.
Also, I never said S30v isn't a good steel.
I never said you did. I said people want the latest wonder steel, whether that includes you is ambiguous.

Either way it seems to be a knock for people wanting something more than s30v. You can think s30v is a good steel but still want something different/better. Other companies tend to make exclusives with different finishes and blade steels usually an upgrade. Since this is in the Hunt Line I don't imagine they'd do anything but s30v though.

Is that on the right side an option for a screw driver tip vs hook cutter?

If you're referring to the picture on the right that's there for scale, it appears that the photo was taken with the gut hook open and that to get the whole knife in-frame, the end of the gut hook gets cut off.

Personally, I refuse to buy a knife unless it has S30v steel. I just wish that Benchmade would get fully on board and make the entire knife out of S30v, including scales, screws, and axis lock.

LOL. Well played.

Just to clarify; I'm not a Benchmade basher. With the exception of a Swiss Army Knife and a Leatherman they're all I carry. S30v is a good steel and I enjoy it in my Bugout. I think the issue is perceived value when other brands are producing knives in similar price ranges in different/better steels.

Yeah, yeah we are well aware that you guys are tired of S30V. We get it. But when it comes down to it S30V really is a great all around steel for the money. Not everyone wants to worry about keeping their M4 blade clean to prevent the edge from corrosion. Not everyone wants to pay for 20CV or S90V in every knife we offer either.

Noted.

It is a knock, if they can't take a joke that is just an invitation to tease more viciously. :)
I have an infatuation with M390, 3V, 4V, and Vanadis 4E, so I am also making fun of myself.

I really don't think the average knife user benefits from a steel "upgrade" anyway. Most people are not experts at sharpening and use their knives pretty much for whatever. The benefit in wear resistance is negligible when the cutting edge meets metal, rocks, etc. I truly wonder if 420HC is a better steel for some of the people I meet.

You're worse off than me. I haven't tried 4v or Vanadis 4E yet. :)

No, probably not. For me it goes back to value. When a knife cost almost $200 dollars with lesser materials than other knives made by the same maker with better materials it's hard to justify the price. Bring in other manufacturers who are introducing their new knives in 20cv for similar prices and only a slight increase and it's hard to justify S30v. In my experience M390 holds a better edge and is just as easy to sharpen as S30v.

I guess some people would rather save a few bucks. I'll continue to let my dollars vote for my preferences.

No need to derail this thread anymore. From the looks of Instagram people can't wait for this one to hit the shelves. Just a reminder that we are a small majority.

If they don't want the 20CV or S90V version, they can just buy the original version...

For the record, I received the original knife as a gift and I really like the design.
