Announcing the new Benchmade 318/318-1 Proper!

Nice. I prefer the clip point. . . Stoked to see some top shelf stainless steel on a slipjoint -and better that it is a Benchmade!

I concur! plus construction allows for custom scales!!
however soft spring is a bummer. . . if it ain't got walk and talk why bother carrying a slippie?

I chose the original 319 Because of the blade shape. If that's the only difference, I'm happy with my choice and there's no real reason to buy another just Because of the blade shape.

I predict that one of these will appear in my mailbox shortly after they are released. The only hard part is deciding on the micarta or g10. Probably end up getting both.

I'm definitely getting one, the only question is when...I'm leaning micarta at this point.

Anybody got a street date for these?

Ready for it!

I think the 319 was the biggest knife surprise of the past couple of years, for me. Absolutely shocked at how much I like it. I'll absolutely get the 318. Also, happy to finally see some Benchmade Micarta-that's been severely lacking!

Well, I went on ahead and got one of these babies ordered! I really dig the looks of the clip on this knife.

The micarta version was the 1st to show, so I figured I would get it sooner rather than later in hopes of getting one with the first production etch.

After a very long holiday weekend (waiting for a new knife always makes the weekend longer, give it a try!) I finally got my 318 today. Loving it!

I will be messing with it all night, but my initial impression is very positive. Feels pretty much identical to the 319, and is hair popping sharp.

I did get a first production etch, 869 of 1200, so a pretty big "first run".

I was so pleased with my 318 that I went ahead and ordered a 318-1 in hopes of getting a 1st production etch.

Unfortunately, it arrived with a glaringly off center blade. My 318 and 319-1 have perfectly centered blades so I knew I wasn't going to be able to get past it. So it got returned yesterday. Frowny face. With a GEC or Case I don't think it would have bothered me, but with a modern construction folder I don't think it's too much to ask for.

Big shout out to Josh at KSF for taking such good care of me!

I only post this so that if anyone considering a Proper is a little picky about blade centering (like me) they know to add a little request in the notes box.

I went to the store yesterday with intentions on getting the 565 Mini Freek, but after handling the 318 Proper in person, I had to snag it instead. What a great knife. Well done Benchmade!
