Did a little fishing.

A little shooting with the missus.

Ok so I was aiming at the horse but the vulture got it. Not really, got lucky.

Daisy the new puppy had a good time too. Turns out she's a water dog, didn't mind the water at all.
Even jumped off the dock. Don't think she realized it was water till she went under but she swam real good. Was on a leash/harness too so I could reel her in anytime.

Live action.

Good friends Schnauzer. He's my pal. Most well behaved dog I've ever met. Tried to have him teach Daisy some etiquette, not sure how successful we were yet.

Time to start digging out of the pile on my desk. Every good thing has it's down side I guess.

Now that's a vacation! I just got back from cape cod. Didn't take any pictures but I didn't really do anything other than eat scallops and swim in the ocean.

Cape Cod? Might have to revise my 6:30 visit time, I'll be a little late.

Cape Cod, the Kennedy's own that don't they?

I don't vacation, but I might if I had a lake like that nearby :D., great pictures man

You'd think they do considering all the museums and streets and restaurants named after the Kennedy's up there.

That lake is about 7 hours away, other side of the state but it's worth every minute. I'd love to find a place over there if I could find a job to go with it. Go out and get a limit of bass and trout in one boat trip. Like that country over there a lot.
Course it's real cold in the winter but a good wood stove and a pile of wood takes care of that.
A nice little shop overlooking the lake would be sweet. Might not get a whole lot done but it sure would be nice.

Dude! Thats a nice pile of trout! Glad your back in one piece! Missed you around here! I wanna know what you cleaned them fish with? 25" Chit? Pen? Thats some beautiful country. I think i could live in that house on the hill no problem.

I gotta find some of the bass pictures. Got a pile of them too.
The bawanna bowie lived by me as usual. I didn't break out the bigger stuff this time. I had the Suga if needed.
That house on the hill must have been something to build. There's about 2/3rd that much hill above the house. Most on that end are on top of the hill but it's quite a hike down to the lake. Beautiful view though. Others along the lake are right on the lake, less view but great access. I got a few places all picked out that I'd love to have, fella can dream ya know.
Also dreaming about a pontoon boat so I don't have to climb in and out of my little shrimp boat everytime. Some are at perfect dock height, could drive on and off. Sweet.

It's a pretty big lake. Plenty of room for skiers and fisherman without bother each other too bad.
Trout don't run quite as big as they did years ago but still quite large compared to anyplace else especially on my side of the mountains.
20 years ago we'd catch limits all over 20". Throw back anything smaller. Still see a few, I caught a couple but it's now the exception rather than the rule.

Nice Vacation Bawanna, glad you had fun.

Now that my daughter is going to be 5, we are going to try some camping as a family.

I already broke her into fishing, she can fish a whole day without any crankiness. She caught a 18lb trout at the San Pablo Reservoir in the SF Bay Area, that got her the "fishing" bug, now she's always asking, "daddy, when we going fishing?"

Thats some fat trout man! Must be the cold water or something. The rainbows here are long and skinnier but they sure are good fresh caught.
Cul I cant even imagine the look on a five year olds face trying to bring in an 18# trout. I bet she will NEVER forget that:thumbup:

Hey Brother glad to have ya back, and by the looks of it you had a good time, some fine looking fish there and I bet they tasted just as good as they look. The pup is looking good as well. Been kinda quite here without ya.

I always did have a knack for being a squeaky wheel. Guess everybody has to have something ya know.

I just about took the little Remington I got from you over for a maiden voyage but I didn't want to risk dinging it up, it's so perfect. Wish I had now. Had the whole place to ourselves, could have done some meaningful sighting in.

I'm hankering to shoot that some and soon.

She hasn't forgotten...granted, I had to help her bring it in, but catching that big ole trout on her first fishing trip, kind of gave her a fishing bug, and she's always looking for the next "big" one...lol.

That will be a tough one to top. I wish her the best in her quest. You gotta have pictures of that don't cha? Tell me ya got pictures................Not seeking evidence I just like fish and little girl pictures..............wait, that didn't come out right.

I never heard of a trout that big! I'm raising my sights a bit too but not quite that high.

I dream about one really really big fish, his name is Walter and he'll provide my 15 seconds of fame one day.

Man, I lost the pic when my phone took a dump, and we lost the camera with the pics at Disneyland in June of this year. I do have the pic on my Facebook page, I am trying to figure out how to get copy, save it to photobucket, and load it up on this thread, so far, no luck. If you have a facebook page, I'll friend you, and then you can see the pic.

I forgot that I sent a copy of the pic to my local fishing shop! I was able to upload it to photobucket!

Yes, she caught it with that little itty bitty fishing pole, and she says, the "sun" was in her eyes, so she closed her eyes. Took 45 minutes to "haul" it in, it was tiring wrestling the fish, holding the pole, and crouching over and helping her, because she wanted to reel it in...lol, but she wasn't strong enough to hold the pole.

Oh man! Talk about light tackle. We had a friends daughter on the end of the dock over there with one of them little foot and a half long kids poles. She came down 3 nights in a row and caught 5 fish while nobody else did anything.

Mom put her to bed and came back with her pole. She caught a few but not like her daughter.

That's one hell of a fish right there.

Godalmighty Cul! That vacation will never be over! Thats a heck of a fish! I didnt know they got that big either cept maybe in Mongolia or something. That must be a steelhead? Man id be munchin out on that thing raw as I cleaned it! I remember them days on my Zebco 202 trying to bringing in some 6-8 pound cats but nothing like that! He He! Mommas proud:thumbup:

Yea, momma was really proud. It was truly my daughter's 1st fish caught ever, many more since then.

I know, those little kiddie poles work wonders. Actually, she has caught nothing under 3 lbs on that pole. I have actually changed the reel 3 times already, because it gets strained so often, and just get worn out, lol. No big deal, they only cost about $12, a lot cheaper than a khuk...:)

I have heard from experienced fisherman, that these little poles use really light tackle (2 lb line on this one), and thus, the lunkers can't see or feel the tackle until it is too late...:)

It's a rainbow trout, probably planted years ago by the DFG.

Give a cute girl a fish and she'll eat for a week, teach her to fish and aw heck, I have no idea where I'm going with this.

Something about beer drinking or buying boats, don't seem applicable in this scenario.

Priceless photo.

That is awesome. I come here to harrass Bawanna about how much fun it looked like he was having and about how jelous I was of his vacation. Exactly the sort of thing that appeals to me and hubby. But as I run through the thread I see that monster fish and that tiny pole in your little girls hands Cul and think It really doesn't get much better than that as a family. I used to have a few pictures of my husband at about that age up near Crescent lake here in WA back in the mid 60s. His family used to go camping up there and go first thing in the mornings to some river around there for trout for that nights dinner. His first fish was a lot smaller than that but it sure seems to have given him the bug. Led to bigger boats and trips to Neah bay and Alaska for Halibut and Salmon. I am glad you have that shared activity. Makes a great bond to go out and spend time together fishing with your little girl, and as she grows up you can keep expanding the bond going more adventurous types of fishing or keep it simple and just about enoying time together fishing. Whatever works for you.
