Anodizing my 172..warranty question

I was told that anodizing the standoffs on my 172 would void the warranty...why? It doesn't weaken any part of the knife or damage it in any way.

I am not sure what it is that you are asking about. I might be able to help explain if you can tell me what a standoff is? Pardon my ignorance.
 
They're the backspacers near the lanyard hole:)

P.S. Gah, I just saw my typo in the first post:rolleyes: That would be anodizing .:)
