This knife was my first commission. Alistair Bastian made it for me. It is fully signed and designated “Prototype”.

Ali designed this to mimic one of the pistols in my collection made by Napoleon’s gunsmith, Nicolas-Noël Boutet.

The knife is named “Boutet”.

It is listed at AUD3,500 (USD2,310) but I will discount it by offer expired

The pistol shown is the one that inspired the design.

EDIT Please note - The prices for this knife and the Ali Bastian "Pterosaur" were transposed elsewhere in this forum. The "Boutet" should be AUD3,500 and the 'Pterosaur" AUD3,200

Thank you, there's only one other, know, gold-mounted Boutet pocket pistol held in private hands and it's part of a garniture which sold for $5,000,000 USD a few years ago. Napoleon commissioned gunmaker, Nicolas-Noël Boutet, to make a pair like this for his sister Elisa Bonaparte, this was from the same series but we don't know who it was made for, certainly a family member or one of his Marshals of the Empire. Here's another nice pair, these commissioned by Napoleon for a Spanish General. More of my pocket pistols here https://antique-pistols.com

Thanks for posting the link, those are amazing. Do I understand correctly that you own all the weapons on the site?

Yes, I own all the firearms on my website and have owned all the firearms I post photos off. I love collecting but I love trading even more. At 76 I've got to consider what will happen to my collection if I fall off the perch unexpectedly. I think that's a problem for a lot of ageing collectors. That's why I'm selling my knives as well as the pistol collection. The pistol collection was originally over 100 pistols.

Wow that is amazing I guess I should stay out of your sales thread, but would you consider going to the community center forum to discuss them?

Yes, I'd be delighted to. Also, please feel free to email me with any questions, I'll talk antique pistols until the cows come home ;-)

Triton, I posted in Community as suggested but it seems linking to my website is not permitted. Sorry, I would have enjoyed chatting.
