I haven’t posted any knives for a couple of weeks because I had thousands of dollars-worth of knives in transit to the US and wanted to make sure they all arrived safely and that the clients were happy.
All good.
Today I have three completely different offerings.
The first one is a very early knife by Australian (now resident in Japan) Glenn Waters).
This knife was made for the first Sydney Knife Show in 2014.
This is a professional description of the knife from when it was briefly advertised on consignment: -
A Jeweler by trade, Glenn has trained in the Japanese art of Jujutsu since he was 6 years old. As a result he eventually developed his own Martial Arts style in 1990, which he has been teaching to Japanese pupils ever since then. Glenn also has a 7th Dan Black belt in Jujutsu and a 3rd Dan black belt in Batto, (cutting with a live sword) Tameshigiri. He moved to Japan permanently in 1986 and has been creating hand-made knives since 1993. He has been able to use his experience with the knives utilized in Jujutsu to design practical and functional tools, and he relies on his knowledge of jewelry and engraving to transform some of them into works of art which are collected worldwide.
Waters has won many major awards including Best in Show, Best Folder, Best Tactical knife as well as Best Art Knife at shows in America, Australia, France and Japan. His most recent awards were Best Folder in 2016 at the SICAC Paris show and Best Folder and Best Miniature in 2017 at the Blade Show in Atlanta. His work has been published in many magazines and books in America, Australia, China, France, Italy, Japan and Russia to name a few.
Glenn makes Tactical Knives, Art Knives and Art Tactical for the connoisseur as well as for the rugged gentlemen. His art knives frequently tell a story and generally have Japanese themes. Very often the entire knife, including the blade, will be engraved and decorated with stories reflecting his love of Japan, its history and mythology as well as his own experiences drawn from the many years that he has lived there. He also like to hide many interesting things on his knives as part of the voyage of discovery of my art.
This amazing knife is one of Glenn earlier makes. This Japanese themed knife is adorned by Glenn's hand engraving all over the acid ethched blade. This blade is made of a very rare Japanese blade which is a San Mai of ZDP-189 super steel on the core and VG-10 on the outside. The back of the blade features a pure 24K gold fireball inlayed into the steel.
The front of the blade is engraved "Kami Kaze" meaning "God's Wind". The front side of the flipper tab is engraved with Glenn's mark. The back of the flipper tab (lock side) has the sanskrit "Om" which according to Glenn means the oneness of mind, body & spirit in Hinduism. The backspacer is engraved with a lightning as well as the word "Arashi" meaning storm. Inscribed on the inside of the backspacer is (2014 *9 G.Waters C.B.S and Om symbol) which refers to the year of production, serial number and Glenn's name. CBS stands for channel bearing system which houses 18 IKBS loose bearings within.
The front of the handle features a timascus bolster and a beautiful lightning strike cabon fiber scale. The lock side features flame anodized titanium handle and a timascus clip with Glenn's mark engraved on it.
Attention:
This knife runs on IKBS loose bearings. Do not disassmble unless you have the right equipmement & skill or you run the risk of losing the bearings, literally.
For your peace of mind, we have disassembled, professionally cleaned, lubricated and treated the blade with multiple coats of EDCi corrosion inhibitor for longevity.
