Here is a nice old Schrade, with good bone front and rear, but two different colors. It had a saber ground master blade, making it no later than 1950's. Someone has taken a fierce buffing to the steel, and there is some blade loss, but this old soldier will still be good for a few hundred deer processing projects. Tell me why you want it, and I might give it to you. Just finished my 500th post today. My decision will be totally subjective. Lower 48 only, please.

Calvin, is that a full size folding hunter? (5+ inches)

That's a sweet old knife and someone's gonna be lucky to own her.

If it were me it would be because of the lineage the knife represents. A classic old pattern by a now bygone company. The blades (even with the abuse) speak of the knife's own history. The scales and jigging have timeless beauty.

A little piece of American history in your pocket or pouch.

Looks like a back pocket knife to me and I need it. Count me in. Buffed blades just mean it needs to be love that much more.

Dear Sir...

You don't know me but my name is K.A. Bar. All my life, ever since I was just a peanut, I have dreamed of having a brother. None of the other knives will play with me anymore saying I am too big. I would love to have a brother as big and as tough as I am so we could play games like gutting deer together.

I am so lonely...

Being a hunter, my interest in traditional knives is from a practical point of view, as well as an asthetic one. This particular knife harkens back a period of time when knives were utilitarian, and this knife would do a hunter proud to carry it in the field, and use it for dressing game...Thanks for the chance---Tony

Congratulations on your 500, tongueriver, and a beautiful knife and giveaway.

a) I really like old, worn jigged bone (especially amber!)
b) I really like large folders (especially two-bladers!)
c) In spite of my previous info, I don't own a folding hunter!
d) Someone stole the only Schrade I ever owned from my garage (a little FB skinner) and I miss it
e) The fact that it's been ground on makes it even more likely I will use the heck out of it and enjoy it!
f) I really like your avatar--here's my bison with my own home-made mount with spear:

I'm out of the 48 so don't qualify but the bone on that knife is attractive enough to bring to the table:thumbup:

Actually, it's big enough (behemoth) to cut a decent slice of roast venison at the table:D

Nice giveaway, nice idea.

I have been looking for my old Schrade's Papa forever! You have it. :D What a nice set this would be.

Ever since I joined BF's,.I've checked out a really big pile of different types of knives.I do not believe I have ever checked out one of those.I came close a few times getting one off the "bay",you know, the Buck version.
It looks like the blades are sharp, too.I'd love to see the bone on the other side
Very generous of you to hook someone up with that knife

She has got lots of class and personality and I'd like to own it for the reason you mentioned. I'll hunt deer with that one to be sure! She is, was and always will be the consummate folding hunter, therefore she belongs in the field with me hunting and field dressing whitetail deer.

Thanks for the consideration and opportunity.

Best,
Anthony

Because I NEEEEEDD it! Thanks for the chance.
Really, because that is a nice piece of history that DOES have a lot of life left. Make a good companion to whoever gets it.

I don't need it, so don't give it to me. But it is a great example of an older, traditional hunter by a company that's lives on in name only. That alone would make it a worthwhile addition, but I'll pass this time so someone else can take it and use it as it was intended to be used. I don't do much deer hunting anymore, but I do use a 156OT little finger for my small game.

Nice knife. The winner will be proud of this knife. Thanks for putting it up.

Being a newbie (here, relatively speaking), I have watched a few of these give-aways and I have been wondering what I will select to give when my post count reaches the appropriate milestone. I look forward to participating in this great forum tradition.

I would love to have that knife. It would be used of course. Camping, hiking, whatever work outside needs to be done. I don't have any large folders like that that I can use. It would be interesting to use one. And someday when I am old and no longer able to use the knife it would go to my child. Boy or girl. It doesn't matter. And I'd be able to tell the back history of the knife and whatnot. Congrats on the 500 posts. After that many, everything is downhill.

I would like the knife. Over my years of buying and collecting knives, I have yet to own a traditional style folding knife. I recently became very interested in slipjoints and other traditional knives. I think this knife would be a nice knife to start my addiction to traditional knives. I do not baby my knives. I use them, so this will not be a safe queen. Thank you for your generosity and the chance to win such a nice knife.

Tongueriver,
Congrats on you 500th post. A very respectable milestone. Beautiful knife your offering for the giveaway. I love that its a real ma-coy Scharde. I would definitely put that hunter to good use in the field.

would love to own the knife--my grandfather had one like it and wore it on his side all the time- i always wanted that knife when i was a boy-mainly because of the man it belonged to-he taught me alot about knives and the outdoors--when he died years ago it ended up in someone elses hands--still think about that old knife--
