the old one, of course, because of its sturdy thick design, the more classic look, also helped by the leather sheath
also the plain edge, easier to sharpen
if feels indestructible in my hand, as opposed to the new "tactical" design, which i agree it cuts better, being more thin, and serrated, and grips better with that rubber (kraton ) stuff.
i like them both, the truth...but i prefer the old one, which i think in a survival (outdoor need) situation would prove to be much more useful for a knife of that size
I'ld say the old.
Thicker stock and as much as I like a firm grip for a knife this small; I just don't particularly favour kraton and have never consider it as the perfect handle material.
I'd have to say the old one, thicker steel stock and just looks like better quality. not to hijack your thread but i used to have a couple of the old urban shivs, got them for a deal since they were discontinuing them, really liked them a lot. simple and clean. you know thompsons a wiggler but he's put out some nice designs over the years.
