Another Amazing Knife From The Swamp! Drop Point R6

I have a regular R6 and it is a wood splitting fool. The Swamp nailed the the grind on this model. Thick spine and tapers down to a nice edge. That drop point looks great and should make an awesome user.

Just got this in and I love it, the handle is very comfortable the weight to it is great and it just looks awesome! It is getting hard to pick a favorite knife when the swamp keeps sending me stuff so wonderful!

Thanks Swamp Rat for another excellent blade :D

Sorry about my lousy pictures.

Wow that came out awesome !! The comparison pic with the RMD is killing me !! I was going to order another RMD but this has me rethinking that,, big time !!!!!! Great knife congrats !!!

Thanks man!!

I have a had a chance to do a little cutting and chopping with it and i love this knife. I havent had a chance to do any splitting yet but i bet its going to be phenomenal at splitting with the thickness and grind. The chopweiler is a great splitter and this is a hair thicker than the choppy. This R6 will be taking the place of the RMD CG and alternating with the chopweiler as my main go to woods knife as soon as i have a chance to get a sheath made for it.

I like big knives. This R6 wont be out slicing that drop point RMD up there- EVER, but none of my knives can slice like that one, but honestly as far as wanting to use one and be comfortable beating on it this R6 is literally unbreakable unless you are really trying and even then without tools... good-luck. When i use a knife in the woods im never slicing much of anything. Im chopping and splitting wood and when i want to play with a knife im beating stuff apart or chopping. Now granted when it comes time to do some cooking and slicing meat a thinner knife would be better, but i normally use a mora for food prep when in the woods.

Awesome looking R6! How would you say the handle thickness compares to a TGLB? I would like an R6 in this config, with nearly the same palm swell as a TGLB. I wonder if this is something they could do for me? I had an R6 before, but the handle did not have enough thickness for me. Still an awesome piece of steel though.

:thumbup:Very nice!:)

Thank you

I dont own a TGLB, but i have held a few and i think the handle on the R6 may be thinner but i cant be for certain. But id suggest emailing the swamp to find out what they can do for you. Trissy is great to work with.

Nice configuration! I'll be surprised if we don't see more of these popping up.

Thanks man, and i wouldnt be surprised either. This knife is perfect like this. All i had to do was see Elof's and i had to have one.

So how are you liking the drop point? Is is sharp enough for stabbing? Just curious because I ordered one like it today, but with a full flat grind. Same configuration as yours. Just hoping its worth it. How would you say it compares to a boss jack?

SH, even with liners R6 will have thinner handles than TGLB. My hands are too shaky ATM to take a pic... ;) , but the slabs are just thicker and more contoured on TGLB.

Rodriguez7, not too sure what you want to stab, but so far as comparing to BJ, you would be getting a knife with more heft, wider blade and handle, and handle that (to me) is more comfortable.

Yeah, figure it would still come a little shy of the TGLB, even with liners. At the thickest point on the TGLB handle it's about 1 inch, if I could get an R6 with the contouring of the TGLB handle slabs I would be in there, even a little shy of that would make me happy.

Well a blade this size is what i use when we butcher domestic pigs and cows. After you shoot them, you sometimes have to stick them in the heart with a long blade to finish them. The boss jack works pretty good for this, but infi just doesnt hold to good of an edge for working the rest of the animal. So I may be getting rid of some of my infi blades and replace them with this.

Sorry mate! ;)
You could have said no when I offered to show you my custom R6...
Don't worry, usually have some muffins left and bread every other day... :D

There is a particularly nasty rat and a homeless guy that are fairly protective of your bins... going to have to give BOTH of them a lesson in manners before winter !!!! ;)

The only hard part is deciding if I go for the same black canvas as you and w/wood or some B&T or G&T G10...!!!! :D :D

Andy, I'll keep the stuff for you in the courtyard, so only the rat will be a competition for you :)

I guess you are THE B&T G10 guy around here...

I am pretty sure I can take the rat in Hand to Claw combat... but I never play fair... I am bring the KZ in with me next time... ;) The homeless guy is really put off by the bottle of liquid soap I threaten him with ... ;)

Yes that is what that springs to mind.... some of the G&B I have seen (including my own Waki) is pretty nice as well... ;)

I always have a hard time choosing the handle material as well. I really like the looks of some of the G10, but love the look and feel of good micarta in use. I knew id be using the R6 so i stayed with black canvas micarta.

And I could go for some of those muffins right now Elof :D
