I've been looking at the Kershaw Avalanche. G10 handles, S60V steel, great EDC size, AO action. I've also been looking at the fact I have started accumulating again, some great pieces, but still pieces that I don't use. Instead of buying the stuff under 50 bucks, I've started accumulating the expensive stuff. My EDC's are a Buck Cadet, a SOG Twitch II and a Spyderco Native. I've gotten rid of most of my collection, and have mainly Spyderco and Benchmade, with a Kershaw Splinter and the SOG thrown in for good measure. I already have two AO's, the above mentioned Twitch II, and a Benchmade Apparition that has been sent in for repairs, I think I'm covered on assisted openers.
The only reason I'm looking at the Avalanche, is that I really like the Kershaw Ken Onion series design, especially the Blackout that I used to own. Even though I don't need super steels, I wasn't happy with the 440. I did receive a Boa in a trade, and was very happy with the handle and steels, just not the shape. From photos, the Avalanche appears to be the same size and design as the Blackout, and the same materials as the Boa.
I love to spend money, my problem is I do it too often. I've read the reviews on this site, and they were pretty good. I have money earmarked for a Swamp Rat fixed blade for February, and will probably cool down my buying until the summer. This will not be an impulse purchase, it will be researched, and I will hopefully handle it before I buy it. Are there any more users out there, most of what I read was in the Review section, any other opinions?
