So I've been buying a lot of knives for other people. Brother in-law loves his Persistence, Sister loves her Squeak, Got my brother hooked way back with a Manix 2 (and now purple Endura). So my Brother's GF told me a few months ago that she wanted a knife for her birthday - FF to today, and it's her birthday. I gave her a blue Delica, and I wasn't quite sure what she thought about it.

I got a text from my brother a few minutes ago.

No doubt you're right. I made the mistake of showing everyone the kitchen knives... I have to buy some Santoku knives before Christmas it looks like, lol.

Id never buy a knife for my brother in law or sister in law, especially not Spydercos. I'm not a bad guy, it's just that they're jerks. Certainly wouldn't want to reward that sort of relationship.
But that's just me. Rock on OP. Glad you got extended family that's deserving of such reward.

I have a really good friend and I just bought him a Digi PM 2 in 30sv/black. He's carried a Boker Automatic for years and it looks like it went through WW 1 and 2.
Just waiting on a zombie bead and I can hand it over.

A female friend borrowed my Endura the other day to open a box and was in awe of its sharpness and ease of use. I didn't think she was going to give it back. I'll have to find something to gift her as well.

To me, Spydercos are very memorable personal gifts for those people in our lives that matter.

It's fun for me to gift knives. I know I really don't need anymore, but I still get the rush of buying something shiny and new. At the same time, they don't sit around on my desk reminding me that I don't really need 'em. I also get to play around with them, so that's always fun. Ha, I must be getting old.

Awesome, and I agree.

I've got one of my brothers hooked. I started him with a RAM from Kershaw (still my favorite flipper despite Spyderco's awesome flippers). Then I grabbed him a Centofante 3. Then he grabbed a black Digi camo Military. My wife carries her Squeak and a Matriarch in her work bag. It is fun to buy others knives especially ones I haven't handled.

I got my wife hooked last year. Bought her a mini grip with the sheepfoot blade and she carries it everyday. I want to get my brother a manix so bad but my wife thinks he will lose it. She is usually right on that stuff.

I gave my sister-in-law (wifes sister) a case stag handle mako 25? years ago. Her husband says she almost sleeps with it. She gives it to me every 6 months or so to touch up. I gave her a zdp delica to handle the other day and she liked it. Gonna give her my vg-10 version.
My wife otoh could care less for a folding knife, or carrying one. Two completely different siblings in almost every way.

My dad loses everything. I gave him my Skyline, and it didn't last a week! I was hesitant, so I bought him a bright teal Shuffle 2 in hopes the bright color would be easier to hang on to (and it was cheap). Nope, it was gone in 3 days! I've reverted to cigars and bourbon as those don't tend to get misplaced, lol. If Spyderco made a serrated bread knife, I'd be in business. That's his thing! Ha. Again, I almost think it's more fun to gift them than buy them for myself. Especially if it's their only knife - I know it's likely to get some use!

My twin bro was all about his Kershaw Blur, until I kicked him down a Sage1. Now it's crazy how loyal he is to that knife - won't touch any of his old blades, and starts ranting about thumb ramps and choil combos! Mission accomplished...

I bought my GF a Delica for Christmas last year - I too wasn't sure what she thought about it until all of her friends kept asking me about it. She'd obviously been telling them.

It lives in her purse along with a decent Zebralight flashlight. I'd prefer them to be in her pocket but you have to start somewhere right?

Main point was that the Delica is a perfect starter Spydie. (It was my first Spydie too many, many years ago...)

Cheers!

Ben

Gave my dad a skyline also to hold him over while waiting on the native LW to hit shelves but he likes I so much I have to wait until he loses or breaks I to get the native.

Another good thing about gifting knives is sharpening them when you them. I've gotten to where I carry my sharp maker with me when I visit

loaned my sister one of my native 4's and never got it back!seems when ever i loan a spyderco i never see it again! i should just gift them and call it a rap....:(

I don't know about that I've had sage 1,2 and 3's leave my possession, Air, Domino, etc... the Delica still remains...
