ANother Bizzarre "what if" question

Too short eh? Ironic I suppose. You'd get well fed up with dragging all that lot about you. Just look at accounts of armies on foot retreat in WW1 or before. If you've got to lug the poxy stuff with you your first priority is travel light to travel long....

Here is my list and pics.

Covers food, shelter, heat, for long term survival. Getting a permanent shelter built (cabin) and laying in enough wood for winter would be the big challenge if you were in northern climes.

Jungle would be a slightly different list.

Skam

This is fun :D

Chopper: full-size or 3/4 length axe, such as Wetterlings Forest Axe or Chopping Axe
Fixed blade: I'm torn on this one; I don't know if I'd take a large, full-size knife like my Greco Explorer (9.5" blade, 15" oal) or if I'd take a 5.5"-6", relatively thin-bladed multi-purpose knife, such as a Buck 119. If only it was still made with a carbon steel blade...
Multitool: Leatherman Supertool 200.

7+1 Other Items:
-metal match (firesteel)
-550 cord, 150 feet
-2 liter canteen w/metal cup top
-dual-sided diamond sharpening stone w/ fine and coarse grits
-large tarp
-small fishing kit
-camp shovel, such as the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel
-large plastic trash bags

A few more desireable things:
-signal mirror
-signal whistle (I don't go into the wilderness without 'em)
-large wool blanket
-compass
-double-sided bastard file (for sharpening the axe)
-.22LR rifle w/ ammo, such as a Ruger 10/22

Is a backpack/rucksack assumed? It'd be very necessary...

It's actually rather amazing what one can do in the wilderness with a few simple tools and gear and the know-how. Given enough time, one could begin to build a new society :D
