Yep, dug out some more. And there were good surprises and bad ones. So first a picture of the box just opened.

And one of the best finds, my mint condition example of the Sears #9555 camp utility saw knife! I thought it was a goner!

Some beauties there, Codger! Could you shed some more light on the TL-29s with the bow tie shields?

Thanks!

OH MY!
What a great find.

Sure. Please be patient as it takes a few minutes to review, enlarge and retrieve the knife to describe them.

Here they are, fuzzy but enlarged.

The top knife is marked only with "Made in U.S.A., generally a Sears marking by Camillus, mostly prewar.
The second is a Schrade-Walden 204S.
The bottom knife is a relic. The remanent of the pocket blade is marked "KA-BAR Olean N.Y.".

Codger love that 3 blade electrician with the saw and stripper notches in the main blade! What are the top and second from top stockmen with the federal shields - is that celluloid on one of them?

Thinking the TL-29 with the bowtie shield is a Schrade Cut Co.

That's a lot of treasure there Codger_64. Quite a few nice TL-29s, some sweet Camp Knives, and a nice example of the Schrade Copenhagen jackknife with serrations.

That electrician is an oddity, isn't it?

It is a Craftsman #9561. It may not show in the picture, but the stripper blade has measurements etched into it in 1/8" and 1/4" intervals.

Those two are neat. The top one is a Schrade N.Y. U.S.A. Improved Muskrat # 787.
The second is indeed Camillus' formed pyroline "Unbreakable Stag type handle". Marked "High Carbon Steel U.S.A.", it was made for Sears and likely originally carried the Sta-Sharp blade etch. The three usual stockman blades are all sabre ground, the pocket blade having a sweet swedge.

Nice box of knives!

Thanks. The more I find the more I realize is missing. Oh... and the knives shown in these pics so far is about 2/3rds of the box. There are more to show and tell after the dust settles from these. :)

More great finds! What happened to the stockman near the bottom left corner? Looks like the middle of the scale blew out of it

:D

She's a peach isn't she? It is a 34OT, actially a 34OTANN inletted for the 100th anniversary banner shield. Suffering from "productus-interuptus", she left the factory naked during the liquidation auction.

I have another one complete that made it to market.

Just below the unfinished 34OTANN is a finished 34OT etched for the NRA.

I still have about 1/3rd of this box not revealed. But yes, I hope there are more as well.

Yikes, that is quite the umm catch ya got there. Not like you can pop in another Schrade shield from a beater into that one. Interesting though. I can't wait to find a box o knives somewhere, but I guess I would have and put them away first.

The shields were heated in, pressed in with a hot die press. Yes, I have that shield and several others left over from the closed factory and blade blanks as well. Even some blanks fron knives that were planned, advertised in the last catalog but never made.

Here is a setup photo of the shield heat-in machine at the factory with an undyed cover used for setup.

More coined shields, unused.
