Another box Codger? Oh noes!

Bettah? M'kay, here is one I betcha haven't seen... W.H Morley & Son Germany, Masonic lobster manicure with pen and cuticle blade/file. I don't know the handle material. Some sort of metal. Interestingly the two headed eagle emblem has a "32" on it's chest shield. Morley, by the way, is another A. Kastor & Bros. branding.

A.W. Wadsworth & Son Germany 2 3/4" barehead jack with really nice bone for such a small knife.

Here are the two boy's knives I showed archive pictures of in the thread by that name. Both are A.w. Wadsworth & Son Germany.

And here is one I don't think I have shown before, shielded "Jack Knife", 3 5/8", A. W. Wadsworth & Son Germany D.R.P.

Hey a few more of those Deer Head knives and what looks like a couple 108 OT's. I like the way you find knives.

I don't know if I should ask if I can come to your house to play or ask you to come over to my place. I wish I could find boxes like yours!

Yes, we talked about those in the boy's knife thread, but I don't recall if I showed all of these. Please pardon the Case interloper. That is a tiny Ike that I found while wadefishing Indian Creek. I thought it was a tosser until I got it home and cleaned it up, but it is nice for a Case. ;)

I'll try to list their ID's but it will take a few minutes. First cup of coffee and all that.

1. Imperial Prov. RI., D-400KP simulated pearl 3 1/4" 2 bl. jack c. 1959.
2. 3 3/4" Mexican Imperial with two sabre clip blades . c. mid to late 1950's, Monterrey Mexico.
3. 3 1/4" Kingston 2 bl. jack, sub-brand of IKAC, likely built at Ulster.
4. The "river-find" 3 1/8" Case I nearly tossed. Sucker is near to mint once cleaned. Even retained the full Eisenhower sig blade etch. Pocket blade is marked dot-square-dot-square-dot over Casexx underlined, square-dot-square-dot-square beneath that. Pile side of other pen blade is marked 06363 over SS. I don't know what it all means. Maybe it needs a home with a Case collector.
5. 3 1/4" Ulster 2 bl. jack, c. 1959. http://collectors-of-schrades-r.us/ULSTER/pages/UK-59-4.htm

Do you think it was made in New York or Germany?

YES! :D You caught part of the mystery of that one. The knife is styled after some English knives (Rogers, Wostenholm) yet is stamped Fairmont Cutlery Co., New York City. Buuuuuut... The marks are not on the shielded side. They are on the pile side! Everything fits and works on this knife but I am suspicious that it has been bretted. :o

Of course you may have seen the row of stockmen the same size.

1. Kingston 3 bl with punch/awl 3 1/4"
2."U.S.A." marked 2 bl. jack, cheaply but well made.
3. Craftsman 3bl. whittler, balloon pattern, 3 5/8", #9494 c. 1966
4. Craftsman 9472 3 1/4", Delrin but a very good approximation of bone. c. 1966.

OK. You have piqued my interest. I'd love to see an open pic of the Craftsman 3bl. whittler, balloon pattern, 3 5/8", #9494 c. 1966

Give me a minute to load some better archive pics of it. There is a surprise in store. ;)

An Ulster by the way.

Dang it Codger, I wish I weren't so far from you, I'd love to see some of that stuff in person. Maybe I'll get back to that neck o' the woods someday. I used to go to Parsons pretty often.

That is too cool. An Ulster Craftsman with an Old Timer shield. There can't be too many of those around I'm betting.

May be the only one, a mistake. Or may be a factory repair. Or...

Here is the catalog cut of the #9494 from 1962,

Great stuff, Codger thanks.

For all you posters that want to express your displeasure about buying non American made knives, this ain't the place to do it. Discuss the knives, please. If you need a refresher on what is or isn't allowed, read the guidelines. Thanks! Back to you regular programming now.

Now if anyone wonders why my 58OT and 50OT are in sad shape, they were early finds of the type. I had them and othrs of their ilk in mint condition on a display before the Great Schrade Robbery. All they left was the display and the PA tins which show the offer for the knives.

And the story of the knives.

Here is one little pearl gent's vest pocket knife I have shown before but not in this batch of knives. It very nearly got cropped out but I'll suppliment it with archive photos.

An uncommon knife, it is a 2 1/4" butterfly with latch, two blades... manicure file and cuticle, and pen blade. Opening it reveals a tiny working scissor. As you might imagine, the markings are microscopic, but there when viewed under a linen tester. A. W. Wadsworth & Son Germany. A nice example of the cutler's art.

I have one of these cool old tins.....always reminds of my misspent youth calling Walgreens to ask if they had "Prince Albert in a can"...... :D

(The punchline for you good boys and girls..."well let him out he's gonna suffocate!")

Heh, heh....ranks right up there with "Is your refrigerator running?" ;)
