My latest addition from Mr. Cover. About 3 5/8 inches, D2. Two, count'um, two blades! At this moment the knife is taking a long relaxing soak in a mineral oil bath. The knife is only a couple of years old but I figured the bone would appreciate a nice soak.

Nice Score, BTW is soaking what you do to all your bones? Just how many gallons does it take to cover all your knives when done at the same time?:D
Nice Score is not enough, I wish I had it.:grumpy:

Thanks gentlemen.
I had a guy email and ask about the mineral oil bath. It was something I read about here on the forums. Some have said they give their stag handles a mineral oil soak overnight once or twice a year. Also read it is good for bone and wood. I sometimes use the rub down with lemon oil method that I read about here. The idea being that the oils will soak into the handle material and keep it from drying out.
So I was wondering what you guys think about the oil bath or any other tricks you may use to maintain the stags and bones and woods?

Nice new addition to your Cover herd Rob. Thanks for showing it.

I have also used mineral oil soaks with my ivory clad knives. I think it helps.

Ray Cover makes the best slip joint! Flawless perfection!
Thanks for sharing your new one!

Rob,Nice Ray Cover knife! I use the lemon oil rub down.I have heard of "painting" on a mineral oil-lemon oil mix works good, too, let it sit on there for a few hrs & wipe it down.

Nice one, Rob. Enjoy that "new" baby!

Thanks Elliott. I've been jonesin' for a two blader ever since you posted pictures of the bone stag one you picked up recently.

I love mine, Rob as I'm sure you do yours. In the unlikely event that mine should ever leave home you (and my RPBM brethren) would be first on the adoption list.

Ray's two blade knives are beyond comparison....and hard to part with:D I picked up a two blade with a semi skinner blade a couple of weeks back with amber stag bone. I reckon I oughta take it's picture some day.

Nice one. I like the dark jigged scales. Looks like another example of Ray's super workmanship!

Beautiful. Interestingly, I was eating breakfast at Crack Barrel the other day and I noticed, among all their "ole timey" stuff up on the walls (vintage tobacco pipes, old sepia tone pix, etc. etc.) a reproduction of a print ad for a Remington two-blade folder (c. 1940's/1950's) that looks just like that Ray Cover folder... Classic!

After the beauty bath. . . . .post a pic.

I don't know how well it shows in the pictures but the mineral oil bath followed by generous slathering of Ren Wax did make a difference. I also noticed that the "jigs";) are slightly larger and slightly deeper on one side than they are on the other.
