Another camp out, BK7 wins again!

Becker Bk7 is a knife I have been wanting for a while but then I stumbled across a bk10 and liked that knife to. And now my mind is at a cross road on which one I should get. Its such a tough choice.

Well, this is all good to hear...
I kinda feel the same way...
I have a 12 so it seems there's no room for a 7 to get any use so I can't really justify buying one...well...

Should have one next week from a trade. Didn't buy it haha. Oh, and its a Camillus so it should be .20"?

I'll check in when it arrives. There's no such thing as too many Beckers, there's always room for more!

Agree, there's not such thing, BTW that 12 where did you got it from? Those are quite hard to find

Got a 7 when the bug first bit, after the 9 & the 2.....and I never used it, really. Thought the 9 was a better big knife, and then I started getting some other Beckers and the 7 just kinda.....languished. Found a 12....and the 7 got the scales removed and the edge taped up, I traced the profile and fiddled around with some ideas....and it sat, taped up and unused. I love the 12. And the 9 kills it as a chopper and general King Bada$$. And one day, after some of my other Beckers had received some minor mods and surgery, I finally decided that I was NEVER going to use that 7 unless I made it my own.

NOW.....now, it gets carried and used. The tactical beverage opener/skull crusher pommel works great. To me, the 7 should be a fighter, not a woods knife. The 12 IMO seems to be better suited to the all round woods knife in that general size, and the Machax and the King are better choppers....to my mind the 7 was too big to be a general woods tool, and too small to be an effective axe replacement. Granted, I never did try it out - but I already had a 9 and a 2 and the 12 came not long after, so....

I picked up an unmodified 7 at the Northeast Gathering (thank you Ka-Bar and Uncle E.!) so I will give it an honest try and the fair shake I maybe should have given it before I removed MOST of the "utility" part (added tactical beverage opener, so in some ways I added the "utility" back in) and left the "combat" portion. So we'll see. Might hafta wait a bit, tho.....there's a lot of new that needs to be knocked off my recently arrived BK21 first ;).

I took virtually every knife/tomahawk I own to Yosemite and Inyo national forest in May. While I tried to use them all for different things at different times, I found myself leaning on the BK7 again and again. When I recently spent about a week hiking/camping alone in Santa Fe national forest, the BK7, my rifleman's hawk, and my Izula 2 were the only knives that accompanied me. They did not disappoint.

My BK7 was probably one of the first ones that Kabar ever made based on the purchase date, and it's still going strong.

Gah! I was this close to ordering a 7 two nights ago, but resisted (bought a lot of other stuff already this month... a 15, a 14, a 21, another 15) but then this thread popped up again and had to make things difficult!

Luckily someone on another forum put up one for sale so at least I got off cheap! A user roll stamped 7 with included Remora for only 65 :D

Congrats! I did t want to pay full price either, if it wouldn't have worked out in trade, I prob wouldn't have done it.

Thanks! Def. took some elbow grease.
I've never even held a 7, I'm very interested in comparing the two even tho its a Camillus and I think its heavier than the Ka-Bar.

Got mine today. Previous owner started to stipple the handles then stopped before adding the inner tubes. I've got a spare set of grivory that I'll put on it soon, but for now it has got a nice post apocalyptic vibe going on :-)

I like the design of the 7, a lot. I grew up with Rambo knife-itis, and the BK7 is the closest I'll ever get to that style of knife....probably.

Of course, on the flipside to that, I've had my 7 for over a year, and its only been out of the box once for a pic.

I can't decide if I should keep it, mod it, or give it away.

EDIT: So, right after this thread I did a quick search for a Spec Ops Combat Master (Long) Sheath (I have a "short" for my BK2 and I really love the sheath) and this is what is on the SPEC OPS website. Check it! (A 7!)

Realistically, you'll probably end up with most of the BK lineup by the time you get done fighting the fever. But IMO the BK7 is soooooo freakin' awesome that the BK10 hasn't got a prayer of keeping up. The BK12 could easily cover all reasonable bases well enough to make justifying future purchases a little tougher. The Bk2 wins the shock and awe award and draws a lot of new members into the Becker club, but the Bk7 is more versatile IMO, and I'm SO in love with that knife I can't fully put it to words.

There's NOT a bad model in the entire lineup, so there also aren't any wrong answers when buying your first, or second,....................or 20th.

Maybe take someone under your wing to teach bushcraft to, then reward them with the 7.
