600 plus cuts on the cardboard, and then I ran out. The knife still shaved hair from my arm in the area used for the cutting. I talked to the maker and he tried some salt water etching on the same blade, and thinks the chips may be pits where he didnt get enough wax on the blade before etching.

My bad. L3, aka 115CrV3, has 1.15% C, 0.6% Cr, 0.1% V, 98.78% Fe + trace impurities. Kinda close, but 0.1% V can change the behavior of the steel.
