Another day, another introduction

Hello Gents (and Ladies?)

I've been thinking about knife making on and off for a couple years now and finally decided to give it a go. I have some experience working in a metal fab shop but not a whole lot, hopefully enough to experience something remotely resembling success

I'm the ripe old age of 19 so at least I have a while to learn right? Just ordered an 18" x 1.5" x 5/32" bar of A2 steel and some 3/16" thick G10 yesterday, hopefully one day I'll have a nice knife... Progress will be slow though, I'm in college taking 24 hours of class a week working towards an engineering degree... hopefully that and knife making will be mutually beneficial.

Thanks to everybody who's posted pics of their custom knives and thanks to all those who will help me in the days ahead!

I've spent (and I'm continuing to spend) many hours reading through those stickies :thumbup:

Having somebody show me the ropes a bit would be great, especially with the nice four day weekend coming up. I'm most worried about heat treating right now... I don't exactly have an oven that'll take a blade up to around 1775*F and I'm not really sure at this point if I want to spend the time and money making one... not sure what to do just yet.
