My first duty was in 1/17th back when they were stationed in the tropics, Fort Richardson. When we were cold and miserable one of us would pipe up and say something like, "I heard it was three degrees colder at Wainwright today than at Rich..." and we'd all feel a little bit better. Cold as it was, though, the coldest I ever felt was riding in a Huey with the doors open in Korea in Winter. It wasn't really colder...just a different kind of cold...bitter and wet and it got right into my bones. When things get cold up there, just think, it could be worse...you could be in Korea.
