Ok! after seeing some pics of this Stretch II knife and someone said it is about a 3.5-3.6 inch blade, the old brain started working, A knife just like this one with a 3.95-4inch blade made out of say VG-10 or BG-42 or maybe to new CPM D2 with green G10 scales.

I can see it now on a hunting trip skinning Elk!!! the skins just flying off!

Sal Please make it so!

I'm trying to buy all the Spyderco's I can but the factory just can't put them out fast enough, also if the above knife were made I am sure Spyderco would do well with it!

I'm looking forward to the Stretch II too. I hear the knife may be available in the late fall...but maybe I heard wrong.

:)

Gosh Rick, Spyderco put out a least 30 new or variations so far this year. Did you get them all? :D

Yea the stretch might be the exact knife i've been seaching for, I cant wait to get my paws on it.

Zen,

the reply said trying "see key word, Trying!" to buy! and no I do not buy all Sypderco's only the models I like.

Rick - I do agree that a 4-inch blade designed for hunting would be nice to see. I looked at the Ocelot, but heard that the handle is a pain to clean.

However, I don't think the blade design on the Stretch is curved enough to make a good skinning knife. What kind of knife do you use when you are elk hunting now?

One more question: Wouldn't H1 be better? Odds are, you won't be able to clean the knife right away. So stain-proof would be nice, but does H1 have enough edge retention?

As for type of steel for a hunting knife, I think S30V, VG-10 or BG-42 would be good, I think a knife like the stretch with a 4IN blade would make a good skinner or an addition to a skinning knife. I currently have a BRKT Gameskeeper for skinning (A2 Steel), I do not have a folder for that purpose but thought the stretch would feel the bill. Hell for that matter my CF BG-42 Military could also but I really like the blade profile on the stretch II just wish it was a little longer.

Hopefully, it will come in 2 sizes and various steels/handle materials.

The Stretch II looks like it will handle the tasks of hunting, utility and defense very well and in a variety of comfortable handholds. That it maintains a pleasing aesthetic quality is icing on the cake for me and gives it the potential to be one of the truly great Spydercos.

EDC,

I feel the same way, I think it does have potential to be one of Spyderco's best, along side the military model.

I'm happy to have a Stretch I. Will be interesting to see how much thicker the II is... I barely notice the stretch when it is in my pocket.

Does anybody know what the status is with this knife? Is it supposed to be out this year?

I think the one of the dealer's latest estimate was October 2007. Could have changed though.
