WOW. Just got my 42S today. My only complaint is WHY THE HELL DIDN'T I GET ONE SOONER??? This knife is so awesome!!! At first, the first one or two flips, I thought, "Geez, it's soooo light, and the handles are shaped a bit oddly. ****, I'm not sure I like it!" Then I thought, "No, wait, it's just different." (I'm used to a Jag and Rostfrei that I have) So I flipped it, then flipped it some more, and before you know it, I was even flipping it while I was driving around tonight!!! (Which is a bad idea, because I was weaving as if I had been drinking! Needless to say, I put the knife away quickly...)
All I can say is if you are reading this, and don't have a BM 42 yet, GET ONE NOW!!! The quality is truly the best you will find anywhere!!!! The titanium handles feel SO great, and the sound they make when flipped is as addicting as the way it feels in your hand.
One of the BEST aspects of the knife (Surprisingly enough) is the fact that aesthetically it is NOT perfect. Yes, I said that it is NOT aesthetically perfect. There are some very minor marks from machining, and a piece of Ti that needs filing inside one of the holes on one of the handles. But these minute flaws, to me, at least, only serve to make the knife feel more unique, as if it was handmade (are they? I don't know...) In short, these marks give the knife soul. Character. It's wonderful! In my opinion, it does NOT detract from the knife at ALL.
Also, I like the fact that the handles are long. I've read some people here complaining about it, but I like the length a lot. I find that the jag and POS I have are too short, especially in comparison to the BM. The length of the POS and Jag handles have bothered me for a while, and now in comparison to the BM, I probably won't touch them anymore!!!
The only true flaw I had with this Bali, was that the cup on the latch handle would stick to the tang pin. What a pain! I was disappointed, but it seems to have pretty much disappeared after this first evening of flipping. Sweet!!!
Anyway, I'm going to study for my test now, but just wanted to share my joy with you all, and to encourage the Benchmade-less people out there to GET ONE!!! Now I'm going to have to keep myself from trying to flip the thing in bed...(that could get ugly!)
Regards,
Strati
