So, I'm using my Evenheat for it's first quenching duties today, and I'm heat treating (4) 5160 knives. Whenever I have the door open for more than a couple of seconds, the oven reads a low temp and sets off the alarm. It also seems to shut itself off. I was holding temp at 1525, and I opened the door three times (pull out a knife, put it back and pull out another, put it back-checking the two long ones for straightness) and the alarm went off. I shut off the beeper, but the oven didn't seem to want to gain temp, so I reprogrammed it and that's where I'm at right now.

I had the same problem when I was normalizing. Programmed it to come up to 1600 and hold for an hour. I came over after it had been holding for 15 min. and removed the blades, let them air cool, skipped to the next segment (1575*) and as I was putting the blades back in it dropped below temp and set the alarm off, same as above

My question is: how do I check on stuff, work on steel (straightening, normalizing, etc.) without the alarm shutting it off, or if I just close the door and let it be, will it come back up to temp on its own? The manual says to just push the alarm button to shut it off, but will the oven attempt to come back up or does it think there's a problem?

Thanks,

Walt

Mine has never done that and I've been using it on a regular basis for 6 years.
I'd call Evenheat and have them trouble-shoot it with you.
That ain't right.

Thanks, guys! I'll get on the phone with them Monday morning.

I did just buy this, and the it seems (from pics I've seen, anyway) that this is a newer version of the Rampmaster control, if that makes a difference.

You can turn error codes off completely. Mike (at EvenHeat) will walk you through it.

Rob!
