We are seeing more and more of this stuff- excuse me, junk. We are even seeing web sites selling Buck knockoffs- the problem is that the companies have no physical presence in the US or Europe, only China. That means we cannot effectively shut them down- the Chinese government doesn't really put much effort into stopping forgeries. So, the only way to stop them is to try and get customs to sieze any counterfeits that come into the country, and when it is small "personal" shipments that is next to impossible.
With the help of one of our European distributors we did just shutdown a business in Europe selling Buck forgeries (and a lot of other forged name brands). There were 2800 counterfeit Bucks at the one location. We were successful because of the help from our distirbutor and the business had a physical location in Europe.
When they are on eBay, we can shutdown the auctions, which we do when we catch them in time. One problem though, they just start another auction; sometimes under a new name or even under the same name.
Part of my role at Buck because of my legal education is to deal with these issue. Unfortunately, it just seems to be getting worse and worse.
Thanks to you guys for helping watch this stuff and letting people know about the scammers.
