Another first Bark River thread

I've got a few barkies, the micarta comes, for lack of a better word, polished. Definitely not the rough stuff you might be accustomed to. I wash them in dish soap and use a green scrub pad which removes most of the slip from the handles.

Exactly! BRKT polishes their micarta with a wax based compound. If you take some hot/warm water, and some good dish detergent, and wash the handle real well (the green scrubbie is ideal!), you end up with a very different feel to the handle - much more grippy that, in fact, gets even grippier when it's wet.

One more thing i am not crazy about, the tip. Its very, very thin. Great for penetrating hide or skin, but it looks weak to me. Would you guys be worried about it breaking?

I would not worry.

Mike Stewart, being a hunter and a woodsman as well as a talented knife designer, knows how knife will be used and usually leaves some meat behind the point.

I would just put that knife to use in the field without fear.

And remember, if you do have a problem down the road, that awesome Bark River “no questions asked” warrantee is always there to back you up.
