so i will make this short and sweet.

blade 3.5-4.4 inches
steel has to be fairly stainless. no tool steel
blade stock i prefer it not razor thin
not a fan of low ride clips
no looking for a pocket brick either maybe under 6oz
under $300
looking for over looked suggestions.

this wil be a new work knife. my old one was a manix 2 and im just looking for a change.

was really interested in benchamdes but the model i fell in love with is only offered in m4. where i work blades rust. i had an aus 8 blade rust around the pivot and on the edge of the blade in less than a week. and the amount i work in the summer i dont feel like using my time to scott bright the rust off and re sharpen.

having issues deciding because in the years i have been collecting i keep a modest collection around for rotation. but after about 4 years i have giving just about every knife a try at least for a week or 2 before i sell for something else. i found that i love a good flipper. but also am in love with the axis lock. not too huge on liner locks or even frame locks anymore unless its a custom. and looking to keep this under $300 but hey maybe i get 2 lol

if you are seriously having rust issues with aus 8, then I'll second the spyderco salt recommendation. Pacific salt has a 3.8" blade. 3mm thick and saber ground blade in H1 should be tough enough for some hard work. carries very nicely in the pocket.

bm 710? fits your size and axis lock desires.

personally I'm apt to say Spyderco Military. best working knife with a 4" blade, IMO. but you aren't big on the liner lock....

This. +1

BM 710 is D2 steel though right?
He said no tool steels.

I'm gonna recommend the Spyderco Superleaf. The blade is 3.44" so it's pretty much right at your 3.5" mark, Beefy knife, VG-10 steel, Compression Lock. Wire clip but it's not a super low riding clip.
Seems to fit all of your criteria. Oh and it's about $130(but can be had for quite a bit less).

Check out the Caly 3.5 as well. They still have the VG-10/G-10 version around.

Spyderco pacific salt. Rust resistant, lightweight. With $300 you can buy all the different models.

lol, i'm not much of a benchmade guy. kind of always figured it was 154cm or something. whoops.

what about a g10 endura or something?
