There's been some recent questions about peoples forges. Here's the one I built for about $50.

Did you buy the burner assembly, or construct it yourself?

Does it heat evenly enough for heat-treating, or is it just for forging?

I may be blind, but I've been all through that site, but still can't find a workable diagram on how to build a good burner assembly. I know Indian George gave a parts list, but I need a visual.

Hi Burchtree,

To answer the questions:

1. I built the burner myself.

2. I've heat treated by placing a piece of box steel in the there and the blade in that.

3. Are you refering to the Ron Reil site? There's dozens of great, very workable burners on there, with very specific drawings and such. I provided a link to the one I used. I followed the directions exactly and it works exactly as described.
