Another GEC or something else?

I will check out Queen and Schatt and Morgan.

Are there any Queen knives to stay away from?

I see they have some knives that are work series or economy type traditional knives. Are these great quality also?

Thank you everyone for your help.

The S&M File & Wire series III are my favorites, and highly recommended. Only available on the secondary market, though. File & Wire series III, #042129 English Jack

That's the one I have, and it's flawless. The pull strength is 'manly' without being a nail-bender, and the action is sooo smooth.

Id try Queen, S&M, or Case. Id stay away from canal street unless you can either handle the knife first or at least make sure the store you buy from has a good return/exchange policy.

Case is the company I avoid unless purchasing in person. Never gotten a stinker from Canal Street, and the pinch lockback was absolutely beautiful and silky-smooth.

I avoid most of their Schatt & Morgan line on account of the steel. 420 steel at those prices? Not a good value in my book.

Another set from Queen that hasn't been mentioned yet, they were the makers of a Robeson - Mastercraft series a few years back. Pretty knives of generally good quality, if you happen to come across one in your searching.

joepa150....if you set up your profile to allow emails, we could send you info that's not allowed in the forum posts.

I have a Queen City Gunstock Pattern in yellow delrin that is an excellent knife for the money.

Note to self.....I've gotta take a better pic of this knife.

Keep adding to your list those made by companies you don't already have (a Queen or Schatt & Morgan, for example). Once you have at least one specimen of all the current makers, go back and add again from all the brands you have. It's a great endless cycle! LOL! ;-)

The new queen arrived today. Excellent fit n finish and actually came very sharp which I find is unusual for new traditionals.

I only own two queens but they are of a quality that is easily on par with GEC. Worth a try I think.

I think CSC is a close second to GEC. I have several of their knives and don't have a negative thing to say about any of them.

I love Queen as well but must admit that they come about as dull as a butter knife. Their heritage series is one of my favorites. In fact I'm carrying a Queen easy open single blade trapper today.. .one of my favorite patterns.

I've been eyeballing a queen trapper jack as well...ill pull the trigger one of these days. Their birds eye maple just speaks to me.
