The postman brought me a late christmas present for myself today, an Al Mar SERE 2000 knife. I have been thinking about getting one of these babies for so long I decided to splash out. I am not dissapointed, as the craftsmanship is first rate. I love how the liners and G10 scales are machined to perfection. The lockup is very solid and I love the thick liners. Anyways heres a few snaps.

Yah, I have a sort of "Al Mar SERE radar", so when I see "Al Mar SERE" posted, I jump right in...LOL...:D.

Welcome to the club:)
We really should get our own forum.
Mine has a black blade and I love it.
One of the most solid, well built knives out there. You won't be disapointed.

steelfury, congratulations on your new knife and on your photographic skills. The SERE 2000 is one big knife I don't own, but those pictures should be Al Mar's standard advertisement for it. Or maybe yours is just the most beautiful one they ever made! :D

woof!

nice, nice... i love thick linerlocks. that puppy might be one of - if not THEE best lookin factory folder for the price.

enjoy it.

My photographic skills must be pure beginners luck, I just put it on a piece of cardboard on top of my bed, knelt down and shot a few snaps. The originals were 1600 x 1200 but i resized them down plenty.

Can't wait to get home from work today to play with my SERE:)

Great pics of the BEST production folder made today bar none. Put some heat shrink around the thumb studs and you will go a long way to making the knife easier to open and more kind to your thumb pads. Although I did just pick up a mini Buck/Strider that has to be the most overbuilt knife I have ever owned. Not as well finished as the SERE by any stretch but none the less as stout.

I have been rotating a CQC 7 with the S2K until just a few days past as my edc when not working. I am now trying out an older EDI GenI, that I have messed around with. Definetly not in the same league as the SERE though. The only other thing I have done to my SERE(s) and I just did this in the past couple of weeks is to break the sharp edges on the liners all the way around. Just took a hard white stone like a pistol smith might use and de-burred the liners. I would get a little bit of a feeling of a sharp edge on the liners when gripping the knives kind of hard. So I broke them. You can't tell I did it and just made it a bit more comfortable. You done good, keep'em sharp

Great, all these S2K threads have conspired to make me buy ANOTHER S2K, to back up my EDC Sere, "just in case".

In case of what, it's hard to say.

This place is very, very tough on the wallet.

Didn't know what I was going to carry out tonight. Now that you guys have me thinking about my SERE, I guess it gets front pocket rights tonight. :p

I've been lusting after the SERE for a couple of years now and since I have moved to higher end folders, it has jumped into the top three on my want list. I gotta tell ya those pics are great, the SERE has just moved into the number one spot on my "gotta have" list.

Thanks for all the kind replies about the pictures, if you want to see a couple of the original size photos i have uploaded them for you. Just click the link below:

Haven't carried mine in a few weeks, but after reading this thread, I too will retrieve my SERE from my duty Zero-Halliburton case and prepare for some quality carry-time as my GF and I ring in the New Year!
Happy New Year forumites!!!!

I love my SERE 2000. One of my favorites by far.

The only thing I would change about it would be to add some traction grooves on the thumb ramp. Other than that....perfection.
