Another happy SERE owner

I just got mine today....been playing with it the whole day...
i just love chunky folders...the handles are superb and the black coating makes it look real evil...

i also got a black sog powerlock...a great combo...

too bad i can't edc the sere2k...too damn risky with such a big folder...and my wife has been freaking me out with her dream of me getting caught by the police for carrying an illegal knife...

Got my SERE2K on Friday along with a SOG Tomcat. (I had to intercept the UPS guy, or my wife would wonder why I was buying more knives.)

Been alternating between thumb-flipping the SERE and snapping the Cat all weekend. (Not to get off-topic, but if you press the lockback while snapping the Cat, the blade whips right out with an authoritative thunk.)

Question: Would my SERE be considered an illegal double-edge even if only the very tip of the swedge (1/4") is sharpened?

mine suppose to be here anyday now, was impatient--now coming apart at the seems--mines a black blade but when i saw the excellent photos i started second guessing--the(black blade made it look evil post helped)

I am home from Iraq on R&R Leave, I carried a coldsteel Recon for the first part of the Deployment but made up my mind to take my Al Mar SERE 2000 with Black Blade back with me for the second half of the Deployment. The SERE is the best folder I have so I am looking forword to carrying it for a while.

As far as knives in Iraq go! I will be carrying my SERE and a Leatherman Wave along with a Leatherman Crunch in my RuckSack. No large knives for me, no reason for them, I know alot of soldiers that have them but never pull them out.

I have been playing around with my SERE since i got it and the only thing i don't like about it is the thumbstuds. I find them quite harsh on the thumb pads, as the sere has a strong liner -ball- retention of the blade so one hand opening is difficult.

I have managed to unscrew the thumbstud and i am awaiting some various Darrel Ralph thumbstuds from knifekits.com to make things a bit easier. I will post some pics when i have done it. :)

I took a small file and some sandpaper to the thumbstuds on both of my SERE 2000, and that made it 100% better in about 10 minutes.

Mine's so smooth that i can just flick it open halfway with my thumb and let the momentum do the rest...the chunky handles also make it easy to open in the backhand grip...

Now i'm addicted to big folders...next one on the list is the Military...hmmm...but i'm also tempted on the Al Mar fixed blade...

damn it...and i'm supposed to save up for a new multiplier reel...
