Hi guys,
Now that the Canadian dollar has gone down, I plan to take advantage before the prices rise. Of course, advantage comes in the form of a new knife.:D I really like the para military, UKPK and sage. I want a really light, thin slicer so I'm leaning twards the para. I have a mini manix and the UKPK is really similar so I'm not to sure about that. I like how the sage looks but I've never had a carbon fiber knife. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
3wolves.

The Sage is a great knife for the money. The textured CF on it is my favorite variety. I wish they'd use it on all CF Spyders.

If you're looking for something different, yet very practical, you should check out the new Ed Schempp Khukuri.

I never thought about UKPK being similar to mini-Manix. Mini-Manix is a tank, UKPK is the beauty and great EDC (especially in orange, just kidding about orange, but it great color).
Sage has the best looking CF out of four CF Spydercos, which I have, and it is very nice knife as well.
But I would go for Caly3, which is UKPK+liners+lock, which is always good, at least for me. Unless you want something really different, than I would go for Persian, small or large, both of them are great.
Good luck

My sugestion? Stretch 2. IMO, one of the best production knives ever produced from any maker, in any price range. You can pay a lot more money for customs that don't cut, balance, or feel as well.

My opinion. Joe

+1 on that!

The Stretch is a good choice as well, but I personally love the CF on my S90V millie. Not sure if it's the same as on the Stretch, but it's grippy and lovely to look at at the same time.

My Para mics out as 0.155" at the ricasso. Not exactly thin, but not thick either. The blade profile & edge thickness (or thinness?) makes it a killer slicer, IMHO.

It's the same peel-ply CF.

I handled the stretch 2 at W&W a few months ago but got a mini manix instead. It looks really nice but it just wasn't for me. Anyway, I need something around $100 so I have $$$$ left over for the urban.:D

Unless they changed the CF on the Military between the BG-42 and S90V versions, it's not. The CF on the Militaries (at least the S30V and BG-42 versions) is considerably rougher and, IMHO, too coarse. Carrying one would be like carrying a cheese grater in my pocket. The Stretch CF, to me, strikes the perfect balance between comfort and traction.

They might have changed it. It's not like sandpaper (imo) at all. It's just grippy. Kinda like a slighly rougher G-10. Personally, I love it.
