Another high-end

I think it's hard to compare the two in terms of fit and finish. I'd say the Lahar is a much more ambitious folder---it has a handground blade, heat colored back spacers, anno-induced fake bolsters. it's great blade and it looks fantastic, BUT CRK has the edge (no pun intended) in some ares. some parts of the handle on the Lahar are kind of sharp compared to that of a CRK knife.

CRK is incredible in terms of fit and finish, and I don't think it can be beat at that price point. The Galyean Pro series I don't think is better or worse in terms of F&F, just different. For the record, none of which I've seen have flawless fit and finish (with exception to the Umnum proto, as far as I can tell). Other than that, the only other knife with flawless F&F that I've seen is a Mayo custom

It's pretty easy for me to compare f&f. My JYD has no flaws I could find, a Mnandi and Sebenza have slightly off centered blades. It's actually pretty easy to compare f&f IMO. BTW the JYD was $350 IIRC.

After thinking long and hard about it, i came to the decision that an Umnumzaan would probably be a keeper work-knife (hiking, weekend chores, picnic.. etc), as well as an occasional EDC (depending on what i'm wearing).
The sng - should i get one - would primarily be played with, and used for tasks around the house. For where i live, the Umnumzaan is definitely much less menacing a knife to carry around. i wouldn't dream of pulling out a tiger striped sng to cut a label, or for that matter open for any reason in public.

That being said, there aren't any umnumzaans in the BST, and i'm toying with the idea of picking up a used SNG for short period of time just to get it out of my system, then flipping it for an umnumzaan.

Post in WTB, and maybe hang around the CRK forum for a bit. :)

there's at least three in BST. none of which you'd probably want though. (customs section). a decorated one, prototype, and a lefty. two are mine :D

heh, yeah. a $1.5k custom, and two lefties. doesn't work for me :p.

Final question is, should i skip the SNG all together, or jump on a used SNG that's available for temporary ownership and hope i don't loose too much on it.

It really depends on if you're willing accept the possibility you will wind up with both. :)

heh, it's a definite possibility... but it's gonna take a good long time.

I suppose the SNG isn't going anywhere. Now i'm going to have to sit tight and wait for an umnumzaan i guess...
