Another J Weight Belt Option

Last week while ordering belts from Pop's I started to order some
J-flex belts. Like most I like the high flex backing but the belts are
pretty short-lived. I saw Pop had another J weight belt from 3M
so I ordered some. If you have never tried the 3M Regalite 707E
you owe it to yourself to try it out. Only very slightly stiffer than the
Klingspor (which should keep it from curling) but it's a ceramic belt
with a seemingly cleaner cut and much longer lasting. Price is right too.
I was really impressed and wanted to pass it on since I don't see it
mentioned very often.

That's my two cents,
David

Trugrit has them also, search for 707JE or 707E. I buy them and love them. I find the AO JFlex belts to be too flexible and too short lived for plunge guts and other metal related work. The 707JEs are plenty flexible, and ceramic as mentioned. I only use Jflex for wood anymore, and as a result, buy very few of them.

I tried a couple in my very first batch of belts and wasn't impressed then. May well
have been my inexperience so it's probably time to give them another test.

I just tried some of these earlier today, and I like them so far. Seem to hold up well and very flexible.

Are they flexible enough to bend around the platen for plunge cuts?
- Thanks!

Troop, cleaning up some plunge cuts was the first thing I tried with them
and I thought they did a fine job.

Thanks, David. I'm gonna have to order some from Mr. Poplin. You aren't kidding when you say that those J-Flex AO's don't last!
Thanks again,
Mitch

Sorry to slightly necro, but I was wondering how these belts are for general use. If I got 220 grit could it replace a regular ceramic 220 grit belt in the lineup?
I'm probably upgrading to 2x72 shortly and I'm trying to keep my belt budget under control.

I so wanted to get some belts from Pops but it looks like they don't post outside the US and Canada. A pitty for Pop as I wanted about four dozen ceramic belts:(

Remy, I've had a couple months with them now and am still very pleased. They've done well for me refining
plunge cuts and doing general clean-up before and after HT. Much longer lived than the yellow j-flex belts.
I think you'll like them.

David

Thanks. That'll make life easier. The cost of staring with a whole new size is painful and anything I can do to limit it is helpful.

707's are all I use in 120, 220, and 240. Cut great and last long enough.

Ditto here, I do keep one or two sets ot j flexes on hand for handle work obviously (since wood will ruin the ceramics) but that set had been lasting forever in that use.

707JEs and the new cubitron ii's are both holding up great for me.

Thanks, I will go over to Trugrit and pick some up
