Ladies and Gentlemen,

some time ago, I wrote to our member Pertinux a message, that I wanted to send some of my knives to the US and asked ~P. if there´s some interest. ~P. told me, that there´s some interesst. She told me, that she wants to send me something, too.
~P. got two german made knives and one made in Switzerland a while back. (This is the part of ~P. now ;) )

~P. asked me, if I want to have the new GEC Farm and Field Tool. I told ~P. that I´m very interessted, because they were told not being sold overseas. So, after eight days (!!) of shipping from the US, a little package arrived here. This was really top in my personal ranking :) Next to the knife there were other items added to this. A buttercup handmade in the US and some magnets. The colors for these three items were made of leaves and are in beautiful autumn colors.

All I can say - Thank you ~P. for this great knife and the nice additions. The knife seems to be without flaws, blade play, gaps etc etc. I really like this one and it will come in my EDC rotation. The handles are fitting nice in the hand. And the whole construction is really solid and begs for work.

:)

I wanted to share this to the Forum :)

Drinks all around!
Andi- Another knife is going to Germany on Tuesday.

Congrats Andi, that's a fine addition to your soddie group and your EDC! Very nice! Love the butter plate and fall trinkets as well! Great stuff and congrats.

Andi is much too kind, as usual:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

some time ago, I wrote to our member Pertinux a message, that I wanted to send some of my knives to the US and asked ~P. if there´s some interest. ~P. told me, that there´s some interesst. She told me, that she wants to send me something, too.

Andi just up and asked for my address (always exciting, around these here parts) and informed me that he was sending me some thing(s). Yes, I had already been thinking of trying to send Andi something distinctly American and told him so when I heard of his impending gifts, but the initiative was entirely his, and I know he would have been happy had I never reciprocated.

All that said, in light of Andi's generosity, as soon as he mentioned in a thread here that he had his eye on a GEC Bullnose but they weren't available to him in the Old Country, I knew what I would send him. It helped that I'd held and admired a Redneck when at GEC in July-- I so seldom get to see and understand in-hand the value of a knife before ordering it-- and liked that I'd thus be able to send Andi a (relatively) known quantity.

The ceramic pieces I sent to Andi were created by a local potter (whose studio is only half a mile from my house, very local); they remind me of everything I love best about the woods, and of some of Andi's own posts about his strolls in the Bavarian woods. So, both the GEC knife and the pottery are very much from PA, my current home state. I love knowing they are now in Andi's home and hands in Germany.

Some may have earlier noted my recent influx of German knives (including the SAK-- it came from Germany to me ;)), but here they are again:

You can well imagine my excitement at opening Andi's package! Each of the knives emerges as the favorite, depending on the day. I've used the Mercator the most, as this is what it begs for-- hard work. The black cat theme is, of course, apt.

Thanks, Andi. :)

Great stuff Andi and P! Gotta love this place!

Thanks to both, for being a part of this subforum, and sharing with us these things. When both ends are happy (and I have no doubt that you are), there's nothing more to add. :)
Side question: Andi, where did you get the Bavarian Classic? I want a Sardinian one (with the 4 moors on it...)
Congrats to both!

Good stuff all around:thumbup:

Andi, I bet your going to love that O1 steel...

~P , Sweet little 1/2 Congress...

Threads like these are what drew me into the Traditional forum, and keep me coming back :)

Andi, when are you going to translate that Bavarian limerick for us?
I'm guessing all those 'x's won't be in a standard German dictionary. All I recognize is 'beim', unless 'zsam' is short for 'zusammen'. Which I think means 'together'.

Great thread! Spirit of traditional forums would really help relations between most nations, I would suggest!

I love this place!

I get the feeling that your F&F Bull Nose will certainly be put through its paces. It looks grand as far as I'm concerned. Let us know what you think of it down the road. I've heard good stuff about GEC's O1 tool steel.

Those are some great looking knives all the way around. Congrats to you guys. :)
@ ~ P. How did you get your cat to pose like that? ;)

As you wish, Sir ;)

It´s a limmerick from Hunting season in Bavaria, when a lot of hunters hunt together, we call it Treibjagd (I believe it´s called Battue in english), there are some drivers and they say (or better shout) this limmerick all the time to let the hunters know where they are and not getting shot. So this means just for deer and other wildlife. This kind of hunting as a big sporting event here during end of november and beginning december on every year.

Hurax dax, packs beim Hax! [Hurax dax (there´s no meaning in bavarian language), grab it at the leg]
Packs beim Fuas, zsam foin muas! [grab it on the foot, it has to fall down]

It has no real meaning, so it´s a strange limmerick. But it´s easy to write in regular letters, which is normaly not to create in the bavarian dialect ;)

Thank you guys for the kind words - I´m sure, I´ll like this knife very much, as well as the ceramics. I carry it since I got it. :)

Some good knives exchanged internationally along with good fellowship makes for good Sunday reading:thumbup:! All those knives look to be in good hands!

this made me smile, I love coming and reading this section of the forum, you all set a great example for us newer folk. It's contagious, the gesture, the friendliness, the selflessness. Awesome. :D

Serendipity-- he was just still enough, and in good enough light, when I caught his attention (and managed to take the picture!-- not a given). I have many, many discarded pictures of furry blurs and/or felines leaving the frame. Thank goodness for digital technology, which makes my mistakes "free."

The above picture was one of the last I attempted; until that moment, one of these was going to have to suffice:

Thanks for the kind words, everyone, and for participating in so many different ways to make this subforum what it is, seen and behind the scenes. ;)

And of course, thanks again, Andi. :)
