got a couple of new sheaths from Eric at onscenetactical.com, as most of you probably already know- first rate work, fit/finish flawless

anywho I'm setting one up as a woods "kit", the other (not finished) will be more of EDC/urban "kit"

LMF steel w/ striker in loop

added 15' of 2mm Spectra line- it's rated at 170 #, basically mini-paracord (*note I've ditched the short tether/S biner as the retention of the sheath is close to bombproof)

I have a Photon light that slides on one side of the neck lanyard, a Fox Micro whistle on the other- they reside on the front under the ranger band- the light can be used w/o removing it- simply give a press and aim the sheath

in the rear (under the band) is a MRE hot beverage bag (16oz), two Micropur water tabs and two Tindertabs

the outfit weighs just shy of 6 oz, I'll probably add a stout needle/spectra fishing line to it

a little peace of mind if a guy was to find himself w/o his pack :)

Sweet setup, very capable blade. Cool color combo. Would like to see a profile shot of it.
How comfortable is it when carried?

Nice and compact. Not too heavy either. I have serious doubts that a lot of the 1 to 2lb knife kits I see get worn on serious hikes.
But I could see that staying on your person for a walk.
And you can't go wrong with Fallkniven :)

That Fallkniven WM-1 knife is superb and I actually own two. It's the most used, small fixed blade I carry. That kits looks excellent:thumbup:

thanks gents :) ^ I now have two WM1's myself :D

very comfortable, the rear side (body side) there is probably only and additional 0.1"-0.2" of overall thickness

the front side the whistle is ~ 0.4" thick (to put that in perspective- the widest portion of the LMF Scout handle is 0.6")

I've found that sheaths that are a little wider tend to work better for me for neck knife carry- doesn't add that much additional weight, less chance of flipping over and gives me a little more room to add cordage and the like

very nice minimalist kit, if it was me i would add a small button compass

definitely a good idea, I'd add one, but this is always tethered in my pocket when hiking

K&M matchsafe w/ Suunto compass (along w/ some REI matches and a couple of firestraws)

added pic of contents, I did end up adding a heavy needle (secreted in a coffee stirrer straw- sealed on the ends) wrapped w/ ~ 35' of 30# spectra line

nice little fire kit also sir, and if thats always on you the button compass on the knive might be over kill but i usually like to have a back up, but some people say i over plan lol

That's a good idea. I've actually used a needle and Spyderwire fishing line or dental floss more times than I can count. Lancing blisters, digging out a sliver to repairing a tear or replacing a button. Good call:thumbup:

Very nice kit, I really dig the knife! I have the F1 but would like something smaller as a necker. Thanks for sharing.

I'm very happy to hear that Eric is still in business! His website seems to be down and I thought he'd packed it in. I got a sheath from him a while ago and I know he does great work. There are a couple of his standard sheaths I want to order. Can anyone tell me how I can get hold of him?
Thanks

he's really hard to get ahold of unfortunately, his old site is still up, but pics don't show up :(

his new site is down (has been for a 2-3 weeks) :(

his email is ericn@mnsi.net, but not great at answering emails (maybe he gets too many????)

but the sheaths are top notch (I had the tethered originally, but it really was pointless- the knife is absolutely not going anywhere)

I weighed the needle/fishing line- 1 gram addition :D

made a minor tweak :) I replaced the LMF striker w/ a "plain" 1/4" steel (just drilled a hole in the end of it)- that shaved close to 1/2 oz off

Greg of loneridergrips.com added some orange G10 scales- his handle work is flawless :D

the G10 grips did add 3/4 oz to the weight of the knife, so a small net gain- but no worry about losing the knife :)
