Another knife maker with talon Hole

I don't think Busse need worry. There talon hole looks pretty safe from this maker

I was prepared to give the maker the benefit of a doubt - he is a poster on BFC and seems like a stand-up guy.

I won't bash him on here - it is an unwritten policy to respectfully avoid that on this subforum.

I will say my opinion changed somewhat when I read this on the maker's site:

Some knife makers even take a regular steel and give it there own name to make us think that there are some special secret qualities unavailable to others.

Do you think he's talking about Cold Steel Carbon V? :D

If he is talking about INFI he is talking out of his ---, INFI is only a regular steel until it has been heat treated, at that point it is no longer a regular steel.

He must have been referring to Carbon V.

I don't see the problem with this. None of the knives that have been posted having a talon hole look anything like Busse knives. I could understand if the knive had a busse look to it, but otherwise its just a hole on the guard.

Here's the catch, Busse has a registered trademark on the Talon hole, it is their responsibility to protect that trademark. There are no trademark police checking for infringements so the registered owner must protect their own trademark. Because of this every infringement must be addressed, if it isn't then the trademark is worthless. Unless the maker has a specific agreement with Busse Combat (the owner of the trademark) they are infringing on the trademark.

Wow, great designs.... never heard of Relentless... are they any good?

Great designs ? What did I miss ?

Never heard of them prior to this thread. I agree that the handle looks uncomfortably short and I'll add, uncomfortably squarish.

Where is "Little Prick" now?

Here's a guy who does knifes for the military and tells "EVERYBODY" about it, AND has pictures too.

His web site turned me off in about 2 seconds....Give (me) it a break!!!!

Not really the right forum for that discussion, but I owned one of his knives for a while and it was serviceable. Fit and finish have improved since then. He seems to do a lot of work with the Armed Forces (award knives and the like).

Let's keep this on track and civil. Jerry should be made aware of this and let him handle it on his own terms and in his own time. I am sure he appreciates the heads up.

Yeah, I think I'm going to pick up a Midget and see how it stacks up ... I've read a couple of good things about his work. Satin blades, micarta handles - Busse needs to make a little fatty like this - INFI style!!

i actually like a few of the designs. their website is crap, though.

shame about the talon hole. go get 'em, jerry! :D

Is it fair game if the hole is at the back of the ricasso? i like the ability to lash it to a spear in the woods?

Still off topic, but to clear things up....
I just want to add, that Daniel Certo makes his knives with the intention that you will use the finger choil all the time. That's why some of his may look short. I've had a few, comfortable, but I don't like having to use the choil all of the time.
