another "Knife #x" thread- tried to challenge myself a little on this one

Does anyone know of a cheap source of the carbide stuff you put on the file guides so I'd doesn't grind away the steel? I've seen it on some of the nicer guides and I think it's called c2 or something like that.

Just buying the carbine is only the beginning.

You need to surface grind it with diamond wheels so both sides are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the inner clamping surface.

the diamond wheel is expensive & Bruce Bump's jig is a bargain.
 
Yeah that would be nice to have one of those. Would be 2nd most expensive piece of knife making equipment I own:). It's on my list but I'll have to make my homemade one work for now while I continue to add and upgrade other tools.

An update on the knife... I ground down the top of the guard some but not all the way down. Also I rounded the top and bottom now so it looks better. Just gonna redo the fluting now and be done with it. Next up a small pocket fixed blade inspired by some of the JD Ware folders that I absolutely love.
