Another Leek TIZDP189 with odd sharpening angle.

Based on comment of a manager in an older thread, it seemed to me that the sharpeners wern't accustomed to the flat grind and very wear resistant steel, leading to the thick edges. They were already thicker behind the edge, and the blades were skating off the carbide wheels. They were probably getting edge bevels that looked to be the appropriate width, but not noticing how obtuse they were.

Thanks for the details, thats straightforward. In regards to the carbide skating, the grindability is really low on these high carbide steels and that needs to be taken into consideration during all steps of manufacturing.

To put an ending point to this story I just received a brand new leek from Kershaw, this one is razor sharp.

I tried to understand where was the difference between the 2 because the bevels seems to be the same size...

I mesured the width of the blade just before the bevel, on my old it's 0.98mm on the new one it's 0.78mm

Just to confrm that, the weight of the new one is 62Gr and the Old one despite the missing tip and all the steel I removed to put a new edge is 63Gr.

That's it !

Thanks for all Kershaw, perfect warranty service, I'm still a Kershaw addict !
