Here's another fighter I just finished up. Its got a hand forged 11 1/4" 1084 blade with iron fittings and a curly maple handle. Overall its 17". The steel was supplied by the Aldo/Mace Steel Barons.

A stunning piece! Graceful yet somewhat mean looking! I wouldn't call it little......

Man, that is just stunning.

Can I ask you what you used to finish the maple?

The maple was dyed with leather dye. I totally coat it with black first. Let it dry and then sand almost off. Repeat with brown and sand that about halfway off. I have 3 coats of Watco Teak Oil on it so far.

Ray,
That one came out very nice...as usual....very nice lines and proportion... get any snow today? Haven't talked to you in a while, hope all is well with you... Mike

Mike, Snowed most the morning and then stopped. Maybe 3" before it started melting. I hope tonights storm isn't as bad as there making it out to be.

Sweet goobidy-goo, Ray! Do you EVER, by any chance, make an ugly knife? I mean, just once I'd like to see something from your forge that doesn't cause me to short-circuit my keyboard with saliva! My wife's beginning to worry about me....

Mark, There are a few ugly knives from time to time. I use them to decorate my shop.

JTKnives, I just use Fc from Radio Shack for my etch. Can't remember what the water ratio is but its 3 or 4 to 1.
