here is another one of these, only with a little wider blade!

Im calling this one a mini-chopper/pack knife. the day I forged this one, my big forge was giving me fits, and instead of forging full sized choppers, this was the biggest I could get out of my little forge. hence the mini-chopper name!

this one was forged out of a leaf spring from my friends ranch, have no idea what vehicle it came off of, but he said they quit adding to that pile a few decades ago. knives ive forged from these springs have cut very well.

OAL- 14 3/4"

blade- 9" long, .225" thick, 1 3/4" wide

steel- leaf spring, Forged, with in-house differential heat treatment which includes double normalize, double anneal, double edge quench, and triple draw, for a great performing blade, that holds a great edge, and yet is easy to sharpen!

grind- a flat grind, with a slight tip to butt taper, sharpened on a smiths diamond hone with micro bevels, to an agressive razor edge

finish- hammer finish, with a 120 grit handsanded finish on the bevels, for a rough, easy to maintain working finish

handle- leather slabs, wrapped in jute cord, and soaked in epoxy

guard- no guard on this one, but the handle is contoured to steer your hand away from the cutting edge

sheath- 11oz leather, hand stitched, clean, hot-waxed, loop is sized for a 2" belt. personally I keep a blade like this one strapped to my pack instead of on my belt

I did not test the blade for rope cutting, I did cut a 2x4 in half twice, and the edge would still shave. it also passed an edge flex test, and a nail test {where you clamp the blade edge up in a vise and place a common nail across the edge and hammer the nail until it is cut halfway through} and put about half my wieght {210 lbs}to flex the blade sideways in a vise to check for toughness.

What's the handle length man? I have large hands and a lot of these choppers usually don't have a long enough handle for me. Sorry if it's posted but I'm on my phone and the type is small.

Joe, every time you post one of these my knees, and trigger finger, tremble!! Nice work!!

Thanks guys!!

Scaredsharp- its yours. Ill get her boxed up!

Army- the handle on this one is 5 3/4" long and a string wrapped around the middle and measured at 4.5"

Knifejuris- is this trembling a good thing?

got it! she will be headed your way here in a few hours!

you will love playing with her! these are fun little knives, ive built shelters, and fires quickly and easily with mine. also cut elk and big deer up, and jointed/headed deer antelope and elk with mine. reall time saver when needed.

It is! I meant to say tremble as I fight the urge to pull the trigger and buy it :D

Joe, you call these a "mini-chopper" and say "these are fun little knives".
I love mine, feels perfect in hand, the balance is excellent, but i get no sense of "mini" or "little". These Choppers are solid and heavy enough to inspire confidence. I think mine which is 14.5" OAL, with a 10" blade is a real Chopper.
I'm just posting this in case anyone gets the wrong idea from the word "mini". These are real Choppers with good heft and lots of cutting power without too much effort and at the price i think are the best Chopper deal you'll find, and, they work !
