I always wanted a Mora of Sweden folding knife, but Mora doesn't make folding knives and I reject to buy a fixed knife, so seeking for a Mora of sweden folding knife project I found some good ideas on other forums and threads about it.

The Mora #106 blank blade and the opinel #8 slim almost match in measures.

some cutting, grinding and sanding...

and here are some pics of this hybrid:

thanks for watching!

That is pretty freakin' sweet! A traditional frankenstein. Does it cut better than the Opi blade? Also wondering why the hate towards fixed blades?

Good work,
Connor

Thanks connor, it supposed to performs better than opinel because the carbon steel.
I don´t hate fixed knife but I prefer pocket knife for EDC.

Very nice. Great job :)

Thanks Jack

I think the Mora carbon steel is better than Opinel's.

Plus, as Tim The Tool Man says:

"If you didn't make it yourself, it's not really yours."

Chirs, good question...

I already had a carbon steel opinel and they are reliable knives, but this project is to make a scandi ground pocket knife ... more specific, a Mora carbon steel folding knife.

Mora of Sewden does not make folding knives. the laminated carbon steel used in some Moras fixed knives are excelent, so why not use it as EDC pocket knife?

The opinel wood handle is an excelent option for this project.

And Dave, I agree with you.

Ohhhhh, I thought you meant you didn't like fixed blades in general. I agree, no fixed unless I become a mountainman.

My first thought when I saw this thread was "Why bother?"

That turned out fantastic! Nice vision and nice job!

Now make the leftover Opinel blade into a fixed! :P

Kidding aside, what tools did you use to get the Mora shaped into the folding knife form? My guess is that you cut it roughly then ground off the rest, but I'm not a very creative person and you may have a far more elegant way of doing it.
