So it has been pretty cold around here lately (-40) and I had to try to hook up our battery charger to the car when Juli forgot the lights on while we were swimming. My headband was in my other jacket (I thought I felt it in my leather but it was just my gloves), and my head started to freeze. So I grabbed a pair of hockey socks that I had in the car from when I was unable to wear shoes and just had winter liners on my broken legs. I folded the socks over a couple of times and made myself a nice reinforced touque/ headband out of it. Worked like a charm!! After the car was started I thought about the other uses and figured that the socks could be used for a number of things. Headband, touque, scarf, light weather balaclava, leg warmers, thick socks when doubled up, bindings/makeshift splint/cast liner, jacket stuffing for children, arm warmers.....
I like to have multi purpose items and I think in the future I will have a pair of these in every vehicle and camping bags.
PS- yes I am Canadian but have never played hockey so they did not even register until I needed backup for my legs.

Wow another Canadian that doesn't play hockey! What are the odds? lol!
So that makes at least two of us!
:D

A picture of you with a rolled up sock on your head would be appreciated.:D

Seriously, necessity is the mother of invention as you discovered. Thanks for the tip.

I can't even skate!!! To top it off my Dad was accepted into the Ice Capades before a bad case of double pneumonia killed his skating career.
