Another new benchmade coming out!!!!!

adding a spring to the latch won't affect the function of the knife. Remove it or break it and it still works.

yeah when i get a new knife i dont want to have to fiddle with it and i certainly dont want to have to break something in it in order for it to meet my requirments. i feel the flat latches were perfect the way they were, and i like them much better than the rounded spring latches. im really hoping its back to basics, minus the zen pins which i think are a real improvement.

you dont have to fiddle with anything its there and will work, if it doesnt you get a t latch, dont see the down side really

instead of using my finger to slip the latch i have to squeeze it which i find spremley agravating. at the very least just chalk it up to user preference and a distaste for nontraditional things on balisongs (except zen pins). if it has the spring latch i wont get one, simple as that. that doesnt mean that i dont want others to enjoy popular features. if the majority wants a spring latch then i hope they include it, i just wont be buying one.

The knife knut side of me really wants one. I used to buy balis as a kid at the county fairs, there was a tent that wuld sell them for $5. They were pretty cool, until mom thought otherwise.

What mom doesn't know wont hurt her:cool:

Yeah, I felt the spring-latch was a great break-through in bali-songs, myself. I think it does require the handle to be a bit longer though. But, that could be seen a a possitive to some too, I guess. I know the spring can be removed from the 42s, but I'm not sure about the Morphos. -Either way, I'd like to give one these a try if the price is right.

-No spring latch
-No single piece handles
-No titanium
-Smaller size

Looks like they took everything appealing about the 42, and got rid of it. It's nice that they're at least trying to fill the hole that the 42 left, but this looks a lot like what we already have with the Kimura. Wouldn't be worth it to me unless the price was low. I don't see why they don't just bring the 42 back; that's where the demand is and none of their half-assed fixes are going to fully displace that.

i gotta disagree. The lack of single peice handles coupled with stainless makes it much cheaper. the smaller handles combined with the increased weight of the stainless will make it a great and fast flipper. i greatly enjoyed benchmades all steel balisongs and im glad they are bringing them back.

seems to me like they are cooking up a winner.

however looks like im in the minority about what is popular for me.

TBH.. In theory it should flip better than a 42 with heavier steel handles.

For EDC ya, gonna be heavier in the pocket.

For the niche market of bali flippers (myself included in the indulgence when I'm not heavily focused on an umnum or alias or 943) it will probably out perform the 42 in flipping.

But

We shall see ...

Actually, unless I missed it, the stainless is in reference to the blade material. There are ?? marks for all the other specs. Though with that high polish on the handles, I would definately think stainless steel. Though I'm no bali trickster, if this is the same size as the 42, but with stainless handles, then I would probably get in the line for it. I do wish BM would take a hint from the Mayhem they made for Bradley, and go with the thicker blade stock.

Where is everyone getting the smaller size talk?.

If there are actual specs on it somewhere, please let me know.

It looks like its the size of the 42, and I hope it is.

Just speculation based on it having the same amount of holes but less space at the latch end of the handle. It might not be smaller, though.

Someone said in the balisong forum that BM told them list price will be $350 for this one, and blade steel will be D2. Ridiculous. Now it looks like they just discontinued the 42 so they could take advantage of increasing demand and gouge people on a much cheaper alternative. Sure it looks like the 42, but that doesn't make it worth 3 times as much as a Kimura.

Has anyone heard of the price point of the 62? I agree with the fellow who stated "I don't sell my knives". If you can count how many you own, you need one more!!!! The Fish

best post of all.

I also can look into the future and i see this. . .
even though its a easier to make sandwich style and cheaper metal than ti, it will still be expensive, BENCHMADE expensive.
Most loyalists will play along and next thing you know, we'll have a glorified Kimura going for 300 secondhand. . . .
BM really knows how to play this game. I think they take pointers from Apple's marketing department.

That thing is NOT going to be $350 ... IDK who said that... But there is NO POSSIBLE WAY lol

Originally the 42 wasnt expensive. They could be had for around $127.00 at the different dealers, so I cant see it costing much more than that.

I really really hope I am not wrong.
