I contacted Robert Dark (who goes by Roosko here) a little while back with a design, sent him a sketch and he knocked it out of the park! I wanted something simple (I'm all for simple working knives) in O1 steel and natural Micarta scales. I wanted a wide tip for prying apart wood, with a nice belly. Just under a 6" blade, 3/16ths" thick. (These are his pics by the way, I haven't got it yet, but I couldn't wait to show it! :o )

I also mailed him a Doan mag firestarter and he did a sweet job on a pouch for it!

I'll post more when I get it and get it out to use. Again, I am so blown away by the makers we have here on BF. Some outstanding guys with very reasonable prices.

Roosko makes some fine blades. You will be very pleased with that one:thumbup:

looks great
Nick:)

Awesome knife with an even more awesome sheath!! Ver nice work and craftmanship!

What this did baby set you back?
You got any more details/specs?

Lucky son o.......

Thanks,
CZ

Man, that whole rig is fantastic. I love how there is NO ricasso! Great cutter.

That's awesome, very Kephart-ish !!! That is my idea of a perfect blade shape !!!!!

Would you mind e-mailing me how much he charged ? Don't worry if you don't want to !!!!

Thanks guys. Only trouble I'm going to be running into is my pack will get heavier because I want to bring them all. Luckily with it staying light longer I can get out for more evening hikes and use them all. I need to grow more hands! I'll put up more specs and pics when I get ahold of it.

It's funny, a few months back I had sold off the last of the high end custom knives I had. I just didn't carry or use them, and I don't consider myself a "collector". So I started talking to some of the guys over in the Makers section, and they were great guys who already had posted up awesome knives in the gallery and for sale sections. I placed orders with a few of them for custom work, and I have been blown away by the craftsmanship, the quality of all the materials and the prices.

I have really sort of simplified my ideas on what field blades should be, and am glad that guys like Nick, and Roosko and Fiddleback are around to make them!

Damn tknife you got me lookin at his website now , his prices are good and he's done some great blades !!!!

It means a lot that the makers on here like it! I just can't wait to use it. Now I need to get a leather maker to make me a belt/suspender combo to carry all my knives at once :D

"Damn tknife you got me lookin at his website now , his prices are good and he's done some great blades !!!!" Sorry man, I am what's know as an "enabler" dragging more people into my addiction, lol!

Very Nice! I wish I knew someone who could make a leather sheath like that for my rat. I love piggy backing stones and firesteels.

Wow - that's a nice blade! Nice, clean lines - simple design. Perfect outdoors knife - I really like the belly and wide tip. Makes a lot of sense for a working knife.

 ddaaaannnngg:eek: that is an awesome looking knife T.... i'm jealous... :D i love a wide bellied knife...

great design and that sheath is really nice....

I hope my man "tknife" is happy with that knife when he gets it. I always worry like an old hen until I know my customer is satisfied. Of course if he is not satisfied, all he has to do is send the old gal back for a full refund.

By the way, I had my name changed on the forums today. Instead of "Roosko", I am now using my real name.

Thanks for the comments guys........... Robert

Hey Robert, hope you don't mind me posting the pics up here, I just got really excited when you emailed them to me :D Your return policy is more than generous, but I sure don't think I'll have to worry about sending her back!
