I have a friend that works at a local shooting range and asked him awhile back to keep his eye out for a 1911. I have a Dan Wesson, but I wanted something else that I wouldn't hesitate to carry. Ironically, Im an old school guy in my gun tastes so I was pretty picky as to what I was looking for. Well, I received a phone call today so I went down this evening to check out some guns. There was a guy that brought in about 10 1911s from his personal collection that were on cosignment. He had some outstanding guns for sale at crazy good prices. There were two Dan Wessons, a Wilson Combat, STI, Colt, and a couple Springers, Kimber, and a Remington. I have always like the Springers for base stock guns since they are forged and are a solid platform to upgrade. Well, there were two there, A basic GI and a Loaded model. The Loaded had the front serrations, which I don't like, but it had a match grade Kart barrell that locked up tight as could be. The other was a basic GI upgraded with an Ed Brown Beavertail, Cylinder and Slide trigger, Blacked out rear and front Nite Site, Ed Brown checkered mainspring, flared ejection port, and upgraded barrel bushing, and upgraded Ed Brown hammer. The trigger on this one was absolutely killer! Probably the best trigger Ive ever felt. Needless to say, I bought it. Its also serial numbered NM too boot which means it was assembled in the US. All of this for...are you ready...$650.00!
I only need some new grips, front strap stippling, and Melonite finish to make it my perfect 1911. This gun should have sold for 1000-1300 with all the work done and it was all done by my gunsmith so I know it was done right.

I'm en-route to arrest your Backside for THEFT!!!! That was a KILLER DEAL!!!! I'd have thrown my shoulder out reaching for my wallet!!!

Since you grabbed this one, can ya PM me the info on the Wilson and the Wesson's (especially if one of 'em was a "Valor")?

Great Grab Chris!!! (and great grab on the HK too...I think I forgot to mention that in the other thread)

You're on a roll!!!

Let me check tomorrow Mike. One was a Valor but I don't remember the price. It was over a grand but less than 1500. It didn't look stock to me either but I don't know what work was done. The wilson was over 2k but I don't remember the model. The other Springfield was a killer deal at 699 but I just don't like the front serrations. It was loaded with aftermarket stuff too and a reeeeally tight lockup with a kart barrel. I couldn't move the slide horizontally at all. Gonna try my hand at some walnut and koa grips. They should be a lot easier to do than my Cz grips.

Damn Chris, first the HK P7 and now this! Great deal! Thankfully I am going to treat myself to a new handgun at the end of the month or I would really have to hate you :D.

Screaming Hot Deal Alert!! That probably cheaper than the gun sold bone stock. Nice grab Chris,

Dang, nice buy Chris. I've been wanting something stainless, but if I woulda seen that deal it would be mine too. Sounds like a nice deal on the Loaded too. Was it blued or stainless? Any info that you remember on the Kimbers? I may have to get a phone number from you.

The loaded was parkerized as well. The guy must have prefered that

Out of sheer guilt, you should take him another $100 bill & kiss him on all 4 cheeks, both upper & lower.

LMAO Gnarly! Yeah, I couldn't believe it was so cheap. The guy was just needing money to buy more guns!
I decided to make some grips for this thing. It was my first time attempting this so be easy on me! Still need to do a couple more coats of oil, and finish.

Very nice job!

(Now it's just begging to go to Jeff 4bush's....I'm thinking a two-tone job in Coyote Brown and Black, to match those fine grips....)

Just sayin'

I actually have one going out to him tomorrow!

Great score and great job on the scale. I wish I can just walk in and buy a handgun... not here in California :thumbdn:

Man...you're just making grips to use as an excuse to show more pics of the GREAT SMOKIN KILLER KICK-A$$ DEALIO you got!!!

Great job on the grips!!!

Congrat's Again!!!
